Description

WOOO MORE LORE DUMPS
Based on the Thaumcraft's wand crafting system, and its 8000 addons adding yet more wand caps. (and a one or two of my own creation based on later versions)

Iron Wand Caps:
Efficiency: Very Poor
Affinities: None
"Iron is a valuable resource better spent on manufacturing. while an excellent conductor of electrical potentia, it is very poor at conducting and handling Vis. It will show signs of corrosion almost immediately after its first use. Said corrosion will steadily grow and damage Vis conduction even further in an exponential rate. The more corroded the cap, the more likely it could damage whatever you happen to be working on. Or explode... that could happen too."
Based on Thaumcraft's base mod.
Copper Wand Caps:
Efficiency: Poor
Affinities: Ordo/Perdito
"Copper, like iron, is not a wise choice of wand cap. Though it is slower to corrode, and has a very slight affinity towards the aspects of Order and Chaos, due to its innate aspectual properties."
Based on Thaumcraft's base mod (if you had copper in the modpack)
Brass Wand Caps:
Efficiency: Neutral
Affinities: None
"The most common of all wand caps, and the type of wand cap most Flare are trained to create and use. While it has no particularly special properties, it make up for by being incredibly resilient, lasting a few years before becoming even moderately corroded. They are commonly mistaken for gold, though gold is far more expensive to acquire."
Based on Thaumcraft 6's Alchemical Brass. If it still used wands this would definitely be a cap type.
Charged Silver Wand Caps:
Efficiency: Neutral
Affinities: Aqua, Ignis, Terra, Aer
"Silver is a good, albeit expensive wand cap used primarily by craftsman or particularly wealthy (by their standards) peasants. It has a particularly long lifespan when kept clean, and has an affinity to the elemental primals. Be careful of the natural tarnishing that occurs over heavy usage or long periods of natural disuse, as it could imbalance the wand. Silver alone will become damaged extremely quickly, so the magical energy provided through infusion will be necessary to prolong their lifespan."
Based on Thaumcraft's base mod (if you had silver in the modpack)
Golden Wand Caps:
Efficiency: Moderate
Affinities: None
"Gold wand caps provide more than enough efficiency for most Flare, though are expensive to Acquire. Generally given to lower mage-officers in the military for its inability to become damaged through vis conduction or the general wears of nature."
Based on Thaumcraft's base mod, moved up a tier to fit brass.
Blessed Steel Wand Caps:
Efficiency: Moderate
Affinities: None
"Originally acquired  through an exchange program with the Usaltan's of the Greymoor, we figured this to just be more proselytizing by the more 'devout' in a vain attempt to convert us to their silly religion. They told us this steel had been exposed to the realm of Avalon and the Gods, or whatever. Religious iconography aside, the iron alloy seems to have been exposed to a lot of alien arcane energy, making it just as efficient as a gold cap. Care must be taken as it is still susceptible to corrosion, albeit far less than copper or iron."
Based on Arcane Engineering, but with a bit more flavor to it.
Enchanted Cloth wand Caps:
Efficiency: Moderate
Affinities: None
(Incompatible with Foci)
"Not many mages know this, but simply wrapping a wand cap with some Enchanted fabric and 'a little extra magical juice' will slightly improve the wand cap's ability to conduct Vis. Though it's effect will only be noticeable with lower end wand caps, and will not increase their rate of decay."
Based on Tainted magic.
Sojourner's Wand Caps:
Efficiency: Decent
Affinities: None
"This bright crystal is one of the many Vis-Quartz crystals, and as such is innately aligned with the energy emit by nodes and the natural aura of the world. It will innately draw from the background aura of the world to charge the wand it is attached to, making it particularly useful for travellers or battlemages. It is said that the first wand Aqua made was that of a Sojourner's"
Based on Thaumic Exploration.
Mechanist's Wand Caps:
Efficiency: Terrible
Affinities: None
"The Mechanist's wand cap (named after Rizon, the head Mechanist and the inventor of it) was made in the War of the Silverwood as a means of rapidly draining and destroying aura nodes, particularly those infested by flux and taint. Its electrically charged steel design, along with other mechanical bits allow it to rend vis from nodes in the most violent and wasteful way imaginable, simply exhausting most of the vis to form crystal shards that can be collected for other uses. It is decidedly not very good at crafting or any normal uses a wand would expect."

Based on Thaumic Exploration, though its purpose was a little lame and heavily outshined by Sojourners.
Thaumium Wand Caps:
Efficiency: Good
Affinities: None
"Thaumium wand caps are good conductors of Vis, due to the innate arcane nature of thaumium. Though these caps are fairly fragile to constant wear and tear, making them a poor choice for long term use, but excellent at making efficient short lasting wands. The innate impurities that rise in the process of making Thaumium leave cracks where its magical energy will seep out when exposed to enough vis over time, leaving them inert and fallible to more severe damage."
Based on Thaumcraft's base mod.
Manasteel Wand Caps:
Efficiency: Good
Affinities: None
"Manasteel is... begrudgingly a better foci of Vis than Thaumium. Though the process for making manasteel is a mystery even to the Leafis we've encountered, and those who do know guard it zealously. It appears to be iron doused in copious amounts of seemingly random vis, its a wonder the metal isn't a pile of orange rust... The only reason it is superior is the amount of Vis poured into it already means it can handle the flow of it very well without damage, and it even seems to draw from its vis supply to mend itself, albeit very slowly."
Based on Forbidden Magic when Botania is installed.
Thauminite Wand Caps:
Efficiency: Good
Affinities: None
"Thauminite was the best answer to the difficult dilemma that came with Thaumium's weaknesses. By adding copious amounts of carbon crystal to its matrix, Thauminite provides slightly more efficiency and a far longer lifespan than that of Thaumium. It is used very commonly by Mage-Officers."
Based on Thaumic Bases, though nerfed to fit in with the others.
Crimson Stained Wand Caps:
Efficiency: Varies based on level of Warp.
Affinities: None
(Incompatible with Foci)
"Largely banned within the Dominion, the use of occult objects in thaumaturgy is frowned upon for its corrupting effect on the mind. Nobody minded the active hunting of the blood clad Crimson Cult, not even other Usaltan Kingdoms. It is said that the blood of the crazed can be channeled to those of equal sanity to become more efficient."
Based on Tainted Magic
Voidmetal Wand Caps:
Efficiency: Great
Affinities: None
"While Voidmetal is innately resistant to magic, it can force itself to channel it with surprising ease with a little coersion. Used only by Archons or high ranking Mage Lances and nobles. One must, like with all constructs of voidmetal, take care of its weakening, corrupting influence, as such only those well trusted are given trust to these."
Based on Thaumcraft's base mod.
Charged Elarium Wand Caps:
Efficiency: Great
Affinities: None
"Elarium is an great channel for Wand caps, but incredibly rare to see. Elarium has strange properties that make it extremely valuable. It seems to either have or store some intellect, which makes it extremely useful for the matrix of an Arcane Infusion machination. Though crystals of such size and properly charged are very rare. Found only in the ruins of the Anudir or the far more ancient ruins of the Kalarata, most owners of Infusion machinations will outright refuse to waste such gems on wand caps."
Based on Forbidden Magic when Botania is installed. Technically would be Elementium. Elarium is a material in AEON used by psychics to 'recharge' their psionic abilities. The main psionics are the Shantiri, Space Elves. So it fits.
Shadow Imbued Cloth Wand Caps:
Efficiency: Excellent
Affinities: None
(Incompatible with Foci)
"Shadow-imbued cloth caps are a far easier replacement for Shadowmetal. Only able to function on voidmetal or greater, and heavily warping to the mind. Banned from production by the blackcoats, and generally only used by Blackcoat Archons."
Based on Tainted Magic.
Shadowmetal Wand Caps:
Efficiency: Excellent
Affinities: None
"Shadowmetal is quite possibly the hardest material in the world to work with that can still channel vis. Shadowmetal itself is not sufficient, but when infused with the arcane power of a primordial mote it would become an excellent cap that was completely immune to wear and tear. Now... making the damn things is much harder than almost any other, as Shadowmetal cannot be forged or smelted, and is only found in the dark places the Everdark-Liches reside. They can however be pursuaded with heavy amounts of raw ignis and a long, careful infusion process. They've only ever been used by the Empress and her direct children."
Based on Tainted Magic.
Primal Wand Caps:
Efficiency: Near Perfect
Affinities: Random
"A purely theoretical design dreamed up by Warper. Where shadowmetal imbued with the power of the primordial can excellently channel vis, the primordial pearls these would be made of, their raw power would allow for a near perfect conduction of vis, and even enhancing the power of it to its fullest potential. One cannot comprehend the true abilities this would have, and care should be taken for the damage it could do to the mind should this process ever be attempted to be made reality."
Based on Thaumic Tinkerer KAMI, but given Ichorium is not a thing in this universe, I changed it to the power of a Primordial Pearl.

Note: You cannot mix wand caps as the subtle efficiency differences would cause vis to leak out the more efficient cap like a bucket with a hole in the side of it.

So many caps, so many options

Iron: Useless as ever and now  with an extra added chance for death and/or injury via explosion of the wand

Copper: Not ideal but still relatively useless to those that have access to the better stuff

Brass: This just reminds me of how old the versions of thuamcraft I use. Still it is nice to know there is a cheaper alternative to gold out there, assuming that it is cheaper.

Gold: Reliable yet expensive, sounds about as much as I expect from it.

Blessed steel: Definitely an attempt to try convert some to their order, probably best to keep a close eye on those that are using this cap you never know if they do buy into it

Enchanted cloth: Sometimes a simple solution is what is needed to improve things.

Sojourner: So simple, so elegant. Might be a bit of a bias on my end to hold these crystalline caps to such a high regard. Could be the aesthetics but I digress it is good to see that it is a practical cap.

Mechanist: There is something about a cap that was simply designed to destroy a node that I thoroughly enjoy to see here, probably cause I have resorted to destroying tainted nodes in the past

Thaumium: Thaumium you disappoint me. I did not expect to see you be so brittle to constant use. Then again I should have seen that coming, it isn't exactly the most complex thing that one can just mass produce.

Manasteel: I never really thought much about the creation process of this stuff till reading this and the more I think about it the more the description of "iron doused in copious amounts of seemingly random vis" seems to fit.

Thauminite: Improvement of the original, nothing else needed to be said.

Crimson stained: I have heard of blood sacrifices to gain power just was not expecting to see it. At least it is a banned practice.

Voidmetal: Corrupting the weak of mind but at least it can channel vis efficiently. I like how it seems that there is a double restriction on whom can get that these caps.

Charged Elarium: I do like how you have this stuff as seemingly ancient with no one seeming to know how it can even be made with just the only form of gathering it is simply trying to scavenge what already exists. Makes sense why they would not use it for caps.

Shadow-Imbued: Another simple solution to achieve a better level of efficiency. Even if just the blackcoats are allowed to use them.

Shadowmetal: Rare and difficult metal to get with a long process to shape it into a cap. I can see why it is just available to so few. Nothing else to add.

Primal cap: A replacement to the powerful ichorium and yet this is by all means impossible to acquire, cause it is just a concept, still seeing as to what the pearl can already be applied to I say that this is feasible.

The heart is chambered— four rooms to safeguard, and your name, still branded on a door. You never left, sleeping softly beneath the dust of years and distance I made myself. I visit you still— run fingers over time-bound pages, smooth syntax to recall a lost language we once wrote in the cosmos. Tenderly folded, like a letter never sent, kept in the drawer for the soft ache of recall. You are not mine to keep, but that quiet, stubborn ache refuses to change the lock. I hear you in the old constellations, in star-maps that no longer match the sky I live under now. Memory redraws them anyway— just enough to pretend you’re still there. Maybe this room isn’t about you anymore. Maybe it’s about the light that reached me because of you— brief, yes, but enough to teach me a language I still use when I try to name myself. So I leave the door as it is— I can’t yet bring myself to hand the key back to the quiet. Not out of longing, but gratitude. Some ghosts stay because they shaped the
