Modern Obelisk

These crumbling ruins are all that remain of the Eldritch obelisks. Few understand what they do, and long have they been reclaimed by nature. The firing of the AEON array burned away the paint of these voidstone and shadowmetal structures, leaving only bare stone and metal, giving a uniquely eerie vibe to them. Some have found that by introducing enough vis energy into the central pedestal, they can force open portals for short periods of time, though the consequences of this can be catastrophic if done incorrectly or you are just unlucky. Even fewer have the knowledge to forge fake Telemetry Coordinators to trick the obelisk into opening for far less effort, though their target locations are random as any codes that were once used are long lost. These ruins are incredibly difficult to destroy, but if one should be destroyed, they explode violently and form a rift in spacetime that is far more dangerous than the obelisk ever was. You monster.

I wanted to give the Eldritch obelisk from Thaumcraft a makeover, showing more of its utility purpose as a portal network. They are super interesting and, well, eldritch structures that could fit both in an fantasy or scifi universe.
