YAY! Its been too long since I last posted these, and I have more random AEON lore for you! 
"The most Prolific and well known of the Viridian Abominations, Mercuren are a heavily modified breed of Canaerare that secreted a metallic substance that would coat their bodies for most of their lives. These creatures were bred specifically as guard animals or use as attack animals. They are also noted to be distinctly more intelligent than a normal Canaerare. What little research data remained after the war was that the Mercuren were meant to be a proof-of-concept animal for another, more alien liquid metal notably found in the ancient city of Kosha Koro and nowadays is known as a primary structural agent in various [REDACTED] constructs. After the war seemed to be lost, as with all other Viridian abominations, were let loose in the Changeling Year. Unlike most abominations, bar only the Species we now know as Ratiosu, the Mercuren have survived all throughout these years and have even continued to see employment in those duties it once served. Less aggressive subjects from that time onwards had bred to become a popular house pet for the Abyssian people, sharing similar active and playful nature as the Canaerare they were made from."

I will admit this on first glance I thought this was going to be liquid based creature am pleasantly surprised that it is just one that is merely coated but now I do have to wonder if the coating they secrete has a purpose or if it is just something for the aesthetics. Also if they were a proof of concept creation what exactly was the end goal with such a line of work. Not sure what to think of some the species ending up as a house pets. Then again "dangerous" creatures are kept as pets here so I shouldn't worry so much about it.
