Description

Some of the most iconic and prolific species in the milky way Galaxy (Circa 2344 Human Schedule) were brought into being during the rise and fall of a civilization now colloquially referred to as the Eldritch Domain, which rose to prominence approximately 1.3 million years ago, long before the development of most sentient life forms.
While we only have evidence for a few species who yet remain in the modern day, it is very likely that those listed here only begin to scratch the surface of the once multi-dimensional civilization.

The Eldritch were presumably some of the first intelligent lifeforms in the universe. Little is known about them and no images have ever been found depicting them. They reportedly resided in the 'pocket dimension' known as the warp, had near unlimited power over its tidal forces of vis & had played a considerable role in shaping the long since past empire of Avalon. Evidence suggests that the level of intelligence they showed was vast, but had virtually no concepts related to our own, and were so alien compared to our own intellect that it will be fundamentally impossible for us to begin to understand their thoughts, or for them to understand lifeforms in our dimension.

Colors: Silver, grey, blue rocky surface, sphearum jet color based upon vis channeling, "face" is a window into the Warp Dimension.

The actual first race recorded in the galaxy. Supposedly created because the Eldritch could not venture into the universe proper, these behemoths could barely be called lifeforms, and functioned more like a very advanced AI or golem. They had huge amounts of control over the powers of space-time and were revered as gods by later ancient races. The Akashic were responsible for the creation of the Nucleo, who they created because they themselves were almost incapable of complex emotion. Due to the nature of their creation they have long since gone extinct.

Let's be honest, nobody understands the Ascendants. I can only give a basic description, but any species can also be an ascendant. Ascendants are immortal beings with greatly increased mental capacity & a near unlimited boost to lifespan. They come either from incidents regarding eldritch locations, or a 1-1,000,000,000 chance at birth, more common in Eldritch influenced races. Scientists believe the fundamental change that the introduction of the Eldritch into our reality had upon the fabric of our universe had something to do with it. It is also believed that the artistic representation of the ‘halo’ (A ring of light on or around the head) was originally created as a primitive interpretation trying to imitate the appearance of one.

Nucleo (Aetheris aurum)

The Nucleo are an interesting bunch, as their biological structure doesn't match with any sentient race (being built around an Aura node in place of a heart, sharing this trait with Silverwood trees of all things). The glowing floating parts are known as 'Sphaerum jets' and are excess vis, light, and heat energy from the reactions going on inside their body. They were supposedly created by the Akashic long ago. Also of note is that they breed and age very slowly, both physically and mentally. (reaching what we would call an adult intellect at around age 200.) Nucleo are slow intellectually, and modern culture leaves them balkanized, so despite being one of the first reseeded species, they could only barely manage to achieve space travel on their own before their world fell into ruin. Even now they remain on the brink of a population crisis.
Prehistorically, the Nucleo were made by the Akashic as a show of goodwill to the first sentient lifeforms that appeared in the milky way, though due to the Akashic's lack of understanding biological functions, Many of Nucleo's innards work strangely and in a very esoteric-non biological mannerism that mimics normal bodily functions. They, and the species they were crudely based upon became the primary creators of the Eldritch Domain. They uplifted a species of pet animals they kept called Evois to sapient status.

Evois (Umbre umbre) Extinct

The Evois were the ancestors of all 'Evoi' classified species (Umbre <>), and were uplifted from a race of pets. They are incredibly adaptive and as such when the species expanded across the galaxy they quickly went extinct from evolving into countless other races based on their environment.

Cyleis (Umbre mygnoli)

Colors: Based upon atmospheric conditions, time of day, etc at time of birth

Cyleis are a race of Evoi that evolved from Evois presumably gas-mining in the intense gravity of a gas giant. They are quite short, and extremely lightweight, due to their porous bones & more empty body cavities. They see basic terms in the opposite order (for ex. big=small & small=big) and they were well known for being one of the major holdouts of the Interregnum period (~1500AD TO 2100AD) of the galaxy, even having their homeworld irreversibly ravaged by war. Unbroken, they built a variety of habitats known as ‘O’niell cylinders’ within their home system to inhabit after the war was over. They would later be inducted into the Empire of Nations by razor thin margins in an election.

Umbreis (Umbre noctus)

A species of Evois that is innately nocturnal, and shares a symbiotic relationship with some form of bioluminescent bacteria. In the modern Era, they are the most populace race of Evois by far, being the poster children of the Aerth Confederation. They have a unique culture that I can only describe as 'American Stereotype'. They obsess over guns, money, and being loud. A common problem when dealing with Umbreis is that the oil covering their fur is mildly poisonous to other races.

Glacies (Umbre tempestas)

Affiliation: Glacies Republic of Kalizhkistan, Dawn Uprising

Colors: Blue, cyan, white fur. Ice color varies depending on time since frozen.

Glacies evolved to exist in intensely cold environments, & as such suffer from heat exhaustion very quickly in even moderate temperatures. Their society is Anarcho-Syndicalistic, the concept of the individual that forms in most societies does not exist naturally in their culture. as such the concept of currency & individual rights never took hold until introduced by a foreign power. They were one of the first species to achieve FTL, and as such played a major role in the Great Empires period (UNKNOWN BCE TO ~1500AD), though they would scarce admit it today. They do not have much individual personality, and prefer not to use any names or pronouns other than that of the plural. The frozen fur on their head melts in above 0 tempuratures, allowing water to flow down and keeping them cool.

The Sylph have long been an enigma, how the hell did it evolve? we don't know. They will happily help in any non violent manner, and have proven to be some of the best doctors and medics in the galaxy. They are also naturally psionic, capable of detecting very basic thoughts & feelings of individuals, though this is not controllable, and they naturally exhibit the same emotions of those around them. This cascaded into a worst case scenario which devolved their homeworld into violence and bloodshed for much of their history. The power that arose from this is a highly authoritarian nanny-state that actively polices the thoughts of its citizens, and actively exile wrongthinkers, dissedents, and violent indviduals off planet.

Brawli (Umbre ira)

Colors: Greyish brown fur, red, grey, yellow, or brown 'armor'.

Brawli adapted Similarly to Centureon in that they are a culture so militaristic and warlike they have evolved to suit that very purpose. They have a small amount of boney 'armor' protruding from their head & arms, are far stronger than their size suggests, and have a very high pain tolerance. Their culture is very militarized & before being inducted into the EON was all about developing better and better ways to kill each other. When Nuclear fission was discovered, it only took a year for their world to be plunged back into the dark ages, living in metro tunnels, bunkers, and sewer systems. A new culture would arise, based on integrity and fair combat, an honor system of sorts. New governments would grow from these ideals, and great underground cities would be made to survive the hostile world they created. They would be inducted into the EON through intense lobbying on their part, and claim to have ‘saved’ them from the Nordicon, upheaving the former power structures.

Jolt are a short, fast thinking and fast moving race of Evoi. They do not live very long but that is no problem, the speed at which they think is proportionally fast. In the past, they had been frivelous and uncaring of the flux virus, going so far as to facilitate its growth, as such a special 'geas' was placed on them that they would work tirelessly to defend the galaxy from such an event again. They are one of the most advanced races in the modern Galaxy, and control a vast majority of the Eldritch & Shantiri artifacts, as well as a list of most known flux infested worlds.

Leafis (Umbre herba)

Colors: brown, tan, or pale fur, green, orange, or blue leaves.

A species of Evois that has developed a symbiotic relationship with a species of plant. They are highly adaptable in their own right and can subsist off of the natural photosynthesis of their leaves for long periods, though they still do need to eat for other nutrients. In the modern Era, they are still a primitive race stuck in a state of 'medieval stasis' out of fear of developing technology and angering their 'god'. They come in many forms based on the regional foliage of their birthplace, but this is the most common 'temperate' appearance.

Flare (Umbre h. ignus)

Psionic: Rare (Alpha: Yes-Telepathic)

Lifespan: 104 yrs

Homeworld: Leafiaros

Affiliation: Thaumic Dominion

Colors: Orange and tan fur, black eyes, purple skin

A species of Evois that has not developed naturally. They have not existed prior to the modern Era, and are the product of arcane meddling. They have the curious position of having access to some of the most premier arcane knowledge available, but no practical knowledge for their industrial ability, forcing them to 'reinvent' the wheel every step of the way and slowing their technological progress, leaving them where they are currently at. Primitives on a single planet. Most Flare are inflicted with a geas that ensures their loyalty to their creator. Upon death, the arcanum that held them together collapses, and they decay into puddles of flux.

Centureon (Umbre scutum)

Centureon are similar to the Brawli, with hard bone carapaces and a militarized culture. However, due to a diet of partially metallic flora, they’ve developed incredibly metal dense bone structure. Most of their history is unknown, and currently live as refugees from the Zone of Silence, being little more than violent tribes and clans with space age technology. Prior to this, they were a slave class under the Aeromaen Martial Empire, largely serving as servants or workers, though select groups were installed as slave legions.

Ananocyt (Umbre urani)

Psionic: Immune (Metallic)

Homeworld: Cytomede

Affiliation: Opulescence Incorporated Conflux

Colors: Grey fur with glowing green sensory organs

Ananocyt were only recently discovered as an Evois species, and evolved to inhabit highly irradiated environments. Their homeworld, Cytomede, exhibits abnormally high radioactive content in its oceans, and life is sparce. Ananocyte are cyborgs who have willingly chosen to permanently connect themselves to the internet, and unwillingly connect themselves to a Highly advanced AI who they refer to as The Great Provider, and have limited autonomy from and seem to revere greatly. Biologically, they are Radiotrophic in nature, though cannot survive temperature ranges above 0°C.

Hypon(Umbre vitium)

Lifespan: 600 yrs

Homeworld: Somewhere in the Triangulum Galaxy

Colors: Flux colored fur, magenta eyes, constantly emitting flux gas

A species of Evois that naturally inhabits flux infested environments, but cannot live outside them. It is as of yet unknown how they evolved such traits, or the relationship between them and other flux-lifeforms. In the modern Era, they are one of the few species still retaining arcane knowledge from the Eldritch Domain, but appear to be native to the Triangulum Galaxy. More research is required.

Fenkelor (Vulpex terentis)

Average Weight: 120 lbs (54 kg)

Homeworld: Hanakon

The Fenkelor are a race of anthropomorphic fox peoples with a horn and some are born with multiple tails. They live under the close watch of an Eldritch being known as the Warden who restricts them from leaving their home system. Their society is governed by a spiritualist caste system that serves the Warden. They are quite intelligent, being able to utilize most Eldritch technology with ease but at the cost of being heavily affected by Eldritch influences, causing them to suffer from the Warp more commonly than other normal races.

The Weddel are a race of energy beings commonly known as 'wisps', but they appear to be the only ones with higher intelligence. They have built a variety of robotic bodies in the visage of various species in the galaxy that they use to interact with other races. They are incredibly xenophilic, and have established themselves as a middle ground between the EON & Aerth Confederation in these tenuous times, both for trade & peace negotiations.

I'll be including pictures in pinned comments so you can get a better idea of what I'm talking about. I'm gonna try and focus more on explaining the basics of AEON lore for these next few posts. Starting here with the species. (Eldritch, Anthro, Baho, and natural)
