Description
Late in 2343 (Earthtime), Extragalactic aliens, known as the Chakimanh Union triggered the ancient Kelratanian Early Warning System that would have heralded the arrival of some foes long ago lost to time. Military forces from the ancient remnants of the Kelratan Imparj (who we will refer to as Treme) would beset the sleeping travelers, who chose to infiltrate and monitor the extragalactic fleet. Reprogramming its systems and wiring their reactor core to detonate, the colony ship & its orbiting fleet (henceforth known as the 'egg' due to its shape) would make a collision course with the third planet in the Eaststar system.
This was altogether not the intended course, as the Egg's inhabitants were accustomed to hot and dry climates, baring a population consisting mostly of Chakimanh (lizard bug bird creatures), with trace amounts of 'thin ones' (tall, lanky humanoids with electromagnetic manipulation & psionic powers), and a two synthetic passengers. One, a large conglomerate of nanomachines known as Eniga, and the other, a Synthetic baring a secret mission unknown to its fellow passengers.
Jolt Technocratic Indexation Foundation (JTIF) forces from the other end of the galaxy also were alerted to this EWS alert signal, and quickly compiled a hand picked team to dispatch and investigate, though this was only after a strange duo were able to track down a rumored route through Szachan space used rarely by the Humans (who had discovered by them by seeming chance). Traversing this route brought them into the territory of the Shinsar Protectorate, who was surprised to see them, to say the least. A tracking beacon was snuck aboard, and after a seemingly random set of jumps, was disposed of before moving on.
Aerth Confederation Aerospace forces were scrambled after initial deep space sensors detected an abnormally large fleet of Kelratreme forces amassing without jumping outside of Eaststar's system. A fleet was amassed from across the Confederation, pulling even the mighty Bismarck from it's front line missions in preparation for what they assumed would be a full on invasion force. When only the colony ship and its escort fleet initially advanced, confusion beset the defenders, as it made no attempt to evade a collision course with the planet, but deployed atmospheric burners instead of colliding like a meteor, despite all attempts to stop it's advance, it was simply moving at 2/3's the speed of light up until final approach, and was closely monitored upon landing. Once colonization procedures began, the Kelratreme forces made their move, striking at the bewildered Aerthian fleet, and engaging with heavy space vessels that haven't been seen in combat since the EON's Imperial home fleet was destroyed by the Bismarck & its armada last year.
Also arriving was a combined arms fleet of marauders and pirates hired by the Empire of Nations to intercept the Bismarck, who also entered the fray making the battle even more chaotic. Asther of Vaccuos was in the middle of attempting to Warn Aerthian officials, but the activation of colonization procedures (and what that entailed) proved quite distracting. Said colonization procedures were made expecting an uninhabited but still habitable world consisting mostly of barren desert. Its computer was designed to siphon the nearby region as if a plant with roots and automatically begin construction of basic colonial infrastructure for its inhabitants to use upon awakening, whilst security forces ensured that initial region proved safe and secure, and were tasked with initiating the unfreezing process when deemed so. tendrils shot out from the ship and began to reach for any sources of building material they could find. A large amount of building materials happened to be detected... in the nearby city of Molthol.
When security forces awoke, they found themselves on the wrong world, surrounded by warships and soldiers, in the middle of a catastrophic warzone. Being from Andromeda, this was nothing new, and began to engage all enemy parties with both deployed ground troops, and their fleet of station-ship escorts. The JTIF science ship had little in the way of resistance in getting to the source of the disturbance, the Egg. Asther of Vaccuos in an act of bravery that is praised by the people of Eaststar, chose to join up with the local militia and military forces on a harrowing strike mission against the invaders. Little is known on what happened upon entering the ship, but it resulted in heavy casualties (total on the part of the JTIF), but a shaky ceasefire was obtained between the Chakimanh Union and Aerth Confederation.
The Space battle was considered Pyrrhic on the side of Aerth Aerospace forces, but managed to push back the Kelratreme even after Bismarck had to be pulled from combat due to massive sustained damages, Chakimanh Union and Aerthian officials settled on a peace treaty which inducted the Union as a nominal member of the Confederation, and the battle is now celebrated as one of the largest space battles in modern history, with Admiral Kalz being heralded as a tactical genius and being awarded the highest military honor.
