I absolutely am in love with the concept of this piece, that a heartbreak can be so painfully literal. From the expression on the subject's face to the explosive splatter as he clutches desperately to his shattered heart has incredible impact (hence the five stars).

I love the use of short, rough strokes to create the feeling of movement and action, as well as evoke the anger and intensity associated with such a loss.

Overall, a very well done piece. I love the positioning of everything, how the figure seems lost in the fury of brushstrokes, yet is united by his intense expression and posing.
