Hi Folks!

It was about time for a new model release spree. Ten new models, both Federation and aliens, with two special treats: a 3D printer ready version of the Discovery phaser and the USS Discovery herself.

As usual, all models are in .max format, with the exception of the phaser, which is in .stl format.

Hi All!

Due to some detail issues with my TOS Enterprise versions and the Surya, I have taken them down a few days ago. I could not upload the correct versions because a glitch in DeviantArt made me unable to do so.

I spent those days updating four of my classic TOS models to fit the standards of my newer models. In the end, it turned out to be a tribute to legendary Trek designer Franz Joseph Schnaubelt, author and illustrator of the Star Fleet Technical Manual.

Eight new-old ships, all re-modelled again and again to fit screen accuracy as best as possible, including the re-release of all three versions of the legendary Starship Enterprise, as well as the Surya class.

Dear All,

Polling for the Ships of a Lesser Line calendar starts now.

I had to make the poll an external one, as DeviantArt's own polling system only allows ten options, and you've given us a staggering 37 entries!

As indicated in the official rules, the 13 (thirteen) top scoring images will be featured in Ships of a Lesser Line. The image with the most votes will become the cover/title image, the rest, in descending order, will correspond to the 12 months of the year 2015 AD.

One person can cast one single vote. Everybody from DeviantArt can vote, including those who did not participate in the contest.

Polling begins as of the publication of this message and will end at midnight, Central European Time, on the 9th of November.

TO CAST YOUR VOTE, PLEASE CLICK HERE

I wish good luck to every participant!

And, of course, here are the entries you and myself have entered for the contest.

Presenting the official Rules, Terms and Conditions of

SHIPS OF A LESSER LINE

A contest for Star Trek fans throughout DeviantArt resulting in a freeware, non-profit calendar

DISCLAIMER: The organizers, contributors and other participants of Ships of a Lesser Line are not affiliated with CBS and/or Paramount Pictures. The project is a friendly competition of artistic merit, with no financial gain made from any side

The contest to get your work featured in Ships of a Lesser Line begins as of the publication of this message and its first phase ends at Midnight, Central European Time, on 31st of October, 2014. It will be followed by a week-long second phase where members of DeviantArt, contributors and non-contributors alike, can vote on the assembled images.

Note: the voting period might be extended should multiple rounds of polling be required due to large numbers of entries.

The top 13 (thirteen) results will be featured in Ships of a Lesser Line. The top scoring image will be featured on the cover, the others, in descending order, will become the 12 months of the calendar for the year 2015 AD.

Any member of DeviantArt can enter. There is no age restriction, also all nationalities and countries are accepted, including states with limited or no recognition. We all do this in the spirit of IDIC.

Those who do not have a DeviantArt account can ask someone who has one to feature their work. If voted, the name of the creator of the image, and not that of the account owner will be featured in Ships of a Lesser Line.

One person can submit one image. This counts even if one has multiple accounts.

The entries must be still images, including, but not restricted to, 3D renderings, drawings, paintings, blueprints, etc. Still frames from animations also count.

The entries must be your own work, so no screencaps from movies or games. 3D renders made with gaming models are accepted.

The entries must be Star Trek based. This includes starships, shuttlecraft, space stations, etc., but excludes characters – this is a spacecraft-based contest. Crossovers are also accepted as long as the main topic of the image is Star Trek related.

All eras of the Star Trek universe are accepted: ENT, TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY and Abramsverse. Fan-made eras and vessel designs are also accepted and welcomed.

The entries must be at least 1024X768 pixels of resolution (for those who wish to print out the calendar later on).

The end result of this contest will be a freeware claendar made with special software that will be psoted on my account but can be uploaded to any DeviantArt account, including those who did not participate and/or vote in this contest. The calendar will be ready-for-printing.

Please submit your contributions as a reply to this post.

The organizer of Ships of a Lesser Line can offer no monetary compensation for the contributors. All I can provide is excitement, friendly competition and the prestige for those who succeed.

I kindly ask those who read this and are interested in it to spread the word of this contest throughout DeviantArt. Let's make this a true fan event, by the fans, from the fans, to the fans.

If you have any questions, please send me a note. I wish you happy Trekking and lots of luck!

Dear fellow Trekkies!

A project I was planning for over a year is finally coming to fruition. The final decision that led to starting it was my disqualification from the official Ships of the Line calendar.
So allow me to present

STAR TREK - SHIPS OF A LESSER LINE

The unofficial, unauthorized, freeware calendar contest!

Rules will be posted on the Sixth of October, with the contest beginning immediately thereafter. Everybody from DeviantArt can participate, the only limitation is that the works need to be Star Trek related.

Stay tuned and spread the word!

My fellow Star Trek Fans,

I think most of you know Bernd Schneider's extraordinary site, Ex Astris Scientia . Recently, he has posted a message about the number of his visitors declining. I feel saddened, as I am an old fan of his work, from my earliest days as a Trekkie from a decade ago.

I usually don't do such things, but now I'm asking you to spread the word: get yourselves to Ex Astris Scientia, follow the site on the social networks. Bernd deserves support from us, from all of us. Now the needs of the one outweigh the needs of the many, and we are those many, regardless of our Trek preferences. TOS purists, Next Genners, Abramsverse fans, I call out to each and every one of you, spread the world, let's save Ex Astris Scientia from becoming abandoned amidst the torrential waves of the information superhighway!
