The Elemental Five, Part 3Mona and Lily led the way home, with Charley, Dottie and the rest of the Zapiteers following behind.
I cant believe you got Mona bitten! Dottie hissed to Charley.
I was trying to help! Charley defended himself.
You mean you were trying to play the hero! Dottie snapped. Mona knew what she was doing, and who knows whatll happen to her now because of you?
You heard her, Charley pouted. She cant be a vampire and a werewolf, can she?
But Monas not always a vampire, Dottie pointed out. Shes a human as well.
She was a vampire when she was bitten, Charley snapped. Itll be fine.
Up ahead, Mona and Lily were also discussing the situation.
I cant believe Charley could be so stupid, said Lily. How could he get you bitten like that?
The Elemental Five, Part 2Once Mona and Lily had dropped Fang off, they headed for the Dream Caverns. Their attention was diverted, however, as they saw Lawrence rushing along the pavement at top speed.
Is he on official Zapiteer business, do you think? Lily giggled.
Wed better check, Mona decided. If theres something going down, we dont want Charley and his conservationists making a balls-up of it. Hey, Lawrence!
Lawrence stopped briefly, looking very agitated.
Oh, hi Mona, he said. Cant stop now Im meeting Charley and the others.
Oh yes? Mona asked interestedly. Where?
At the city dump, Lawrence provided. Apparently someone spotted a zombie there.
A zombie, huh? said Mona. That could be serious. I think we should come along too.
Surely Charley can handle

One Saturday morning, Mona went down to breakfast in a passably good mood, but it was not to last.
Good morning, sweetie, said Dad. Did you sleep well?
Yeah, I guess, Mona replied. Did you make any scrambled zombie brains this morning?
Sure did, Dad smiled. Theyre in the pan.
Mona headed for the stove but, before she could reach the scrambled eggs, Mom swept into the kitchen, leapt to the stove, snatched up the saucepan and emptied its contents into the bin.
Mom! Mona objected. I was just about to
I know, Mona, Mom said coldly. Im joining some of the girls from my pottery class in a new healthy eating drive. From now on were only eating foods that are high in vitamins and fibre.
Oh, but why do we have to join
Evil Incarnate, Part 3Treguard, Merlin, Charley and Lily were standing in the secret cave.
This is the place, Lily reported. The ship was anchored just offshore.
Yes, they were definitely here, Merlin said mystically. This is a place of great magic; I can feel their vibrations in the air.
So, Mona and Dottie were here, but where are they now? Treguard wondered. Somewhere on the bounding waves, I expect.
Perhaps we can follow their trail over the ocean, just as a dog follows a scent, Merlin mused.
Wouldnt we need a boat for that? Charley asked.
That does seem the most sensible idea, Merlin agreed. The powers of magic will help us with that.
I dont like sea journeys, Treguard complained. They remind me of darker times in my life. Plus I always get seasick.
Evil Incarnate, Part 2 You complete idiot, Charley! Lily yelled, her voice echoing throughout the Great Hall of Knightmare. Why do you always have to screw everything up, huh? All we had to do was just stand there and hold hands, but you couldnt even do that!
Im sorry, Charley stammered. The noise was just unbearable.
So Mona and Dottie have ended up God knows where just to save you a bit of aural discomfort! Lily fumed. I cant believe you, Charley. If we dont find Mona, Ill never forgive you. And what about Dottie, huh? I thought you really liked her.
I do, but Charley began, but he was cut off.
But youre a stupid cretin! Lily interrupted.
Now, kids, please, lets just try and calm down, Merlin said soothingly. Lets just take a step back and take a rational look at the sit

It seemed to Mona that no matter how hard she fought against it, evil always seemed to find a way to reside within her. A very evil, yet unknown, creature was using Mona as a vessel for its dark powers. Mona gazed out of her bedroom window at the moonlit night and sighed heavily as she contemplated the situation in which she now found herself. Fang rubbed himself against her legs, sensing her downcast mood.
Ah, Fang, Mona sighed again. Theres just so much evil out there, and I can never seem to escape from it completely. Then again, how many other thirteen-year-olds court evil like I do?
Miaow? Fang queried.
Oh, you know what I mean, Mona told the cat. If Im going to turn into a vampire at will, I cant expect to stay completely out of evils way, can I? Take Imhotep, for example. I helped him to escape from the Medjai war
The Road to Hell, Part 2About an hour later, Mona was drawing a pentangle in chalk on the patio in her back garden. Into the middle of this she placed the Book of the Dead and then, standing just on the outside edge of the pentangle, she read out loud from Anck-su-Namun's page. A mist began to form within the pentangle, and Mona took a few steps back. In one hand she held the magic book with instructions for this procedure; in the other hand she held a small brass bell.
"Anck-su-Namun?" Mona asked the mist uncertainly. "Don't bother trying to escape from the pentangle; show yourself so that we can talk."
The mist tried to seep over the edges of the pentangle, but it could not be done. It gradually began to take on an incorporeal human shape, and Mona looked upon the transparent features of a black-haired, exotic-looking woman, who was being projected from the Book of the Dead like a hologram.
"I am Anck-su-Namun," the spirit was forced to admit. "Who are you?"
"I'm Mona Par

Mona had just finished a lengthy adventure involving a deceitful mummy and a group of futuristic cat-like humanoids. Normally after such incidents she had no trouble whatsoever getting to sleep, but this time seemed to be an exception. Mona shifted her position in bed over and over again, but could not get comfortable. She could feel sweat pricking at her pores under her pyjamas, and she threw off her covers in annoyance. Fang meowed in a manner that made it quite clear that he was feeling most put out by Mona's restlessness, before shifting his position slightly and licking his front paws in pointed annoyance.
"I'm sorry, Fang," Mona whispered apologetically. "I don't know what's wrong with me tonight. Normally I'm ready to sleep for a fortnight after my adventures, but I just can't get comfy tonight."
Far away in his pyramid tomb, the evil Mum-Ra awoke from his regenerative sleep. His ancient sarcophagus slid open and
The Eye of Thundera, Part 3When Mona and Lily arrived at Dotties house, Aunt Delores showed them into the living room, where Dottie was prancing around in her tutu for Charleys enjoyment.
For goodness sake, Charley, Mona remarked wryly, have you no shame?
Oh, hi Mona Charley replied, diverting his attention promptly. Whats going on?
Plenty Mona said dryly. I need you to look after Lily while I take care of some stuff. As long as youre not too busy saving the dance studio, or whatever it is youre up to.
Sure, Ill look after Lily Charley agreed. But why does she need looking after particularly?
Perhaps you would have found out if youd listened to her before Mona said sternly. Have fun, you three Ill see you later.
With that, Mona was gone from the house. Lily swallowed aw
