Hunter or Hunted? Part 3Before long, Mona found herself in an ancient Egyptian city. The baking heat of the desert hung in the streets, which were surrounded by buildings made of yellow sandstone. Mona was walking through a bustling market square. She asked one of the stallholders where she might find the High Priest Imhotep.
He lives in the great palace over yonder, Mistress, the stallholder replied. It is but a short walk along the road just to the left over there. But perhaps you would like to buy one of my fine rugs or furs before you go? I dont usually give out valuable advice for free
Mona darted back into the crowd and rushed off in the direction the stallholder had indicated. The great palace he had mentioned dominated the skyline of the city, and Mona had no trouble in reaching it. It appeared that Imhotep was making no attempt to be inconspicuous in his new surroundings, but Mona realised that the status he had been used to as the pharaohs chief
Hunter or Hunted? Part 2Mona was no stranger to odd occurrences, but she had never met a talking baby before. She now had the distinct impression that her first meeting with one was not going all that well.
Er, hi, Mona ventured. My names Mona Parker, and this is Lily Duncan. What who are you?
The names Max, replied the baby. Ive got your number, vampire! What have you done with the Ambassador?
We dont know any Ambassador, Lily told the baby firmly. Just who do you think you are, turning up here on Monas doorstep and asking questions she cant possibly answer?
Dont play the innocent with me, Max gurgled accusingly. Do I look like I was born yesterday? Dont answer that! he added hastily. I saw you on the telescreen attacking the Ambassador, vampire. We both did.
Both? Mona queried.

One morning, Mona set off early to visit Lily. As soon as she set foot outside her house, she was overcome by the unnerving feeling that someone was watching her. Had the sun not been blazing brightly overhead, Mona would have been able to transform and investigate her gut-feeling further. However, as there appeared to be nothing amiss as far as she could see, Mona continued to Lilys house.
Mona, hi, Lily smiled as she opened the door. Whats up?
Let me in quickly, Lily, Mona replied unceremoniously. I think theres something watching me.
Lily obligingly stood to one side so that Mona could enter the house, then she closed the door firmly behind her.
What sort of something? Lily asked urgently. Did you see it?
No, its just a feeling I got as soon as I left my house, Mona told her
The Dark Portal, Part 3Charley, Lily and Dottie found themselves in a quiet suburban area of Norwich.
Hey, I know where this is, Lily realised. That house over there is where Treguards niece lives.
Are you sure? asked Charley. Why would there be any evil artefacts here?
Of course Im sure, Lily was adamant.
Lets go and investigate, Dottie suggested. Perhaps we can spot where Mogdreds got to.
They went into the front garden of the house that Lily recognised. There was a man there, crouching behind the hedge, where he was planting bulbs. He looked up sharply when he saw the three kids.
What do you want here? he asked suspiciously. What do you think youre doing, just walking into my garden like this?
Hey, youre William, arent you? Lily asked. Fays husband, right?
The Dark Portal, Part 2Timmy was rubbing his aching head, arms and legs. Mona was regarding him with a superior expression.
Well, that was certainly a good outlet for my frustrations, Mona smiled falsely. Are you ready to let me go home yet, Timmy?
Are you kidding? Timmy grinned. That was totally cool! I like playing with you, Mona. How about you come downstairs now and meet my parents?
Youre incorrigible, arent you? Mona half-smiled. Well, as Im stuck here until tomorrow I suppose I might as well.
Great! Timmy enthused, running to open his bedroom door. Come on, Wanda.
Wanda transformed herself into a small pink mouse and followed Timmy and Mona out of the room. Timmy led the way downstairs, where his mother and father were watching the television.
Mom, Dad, Id like you to meet my new friend, Timmy said proudly.

Mona was giving Fang his supper. All had been peaceful on the supernatural front recently, and Mona was enjoying a little time to feel almost normal. Of course it was when things were at their quietest that she could usually expect Merlin to turn up. The occasion of her fourteenth birthday had made Mona begin to half-worry once again about whether turning into a vampire had actually slowed down her aging process. She worked out that she could not have spent time cumulatively as a vampire totalling more than two or three weeks during her adventures over the past year or so, but if that continued at the same rate, Mona worked out that by the time she turned thirty-one, she might actually have spent an entire year of her life clinically dead.
Miaow! Fang interjected shrilly, reminding Mona that he was waiting for his supper.
Sorry, Fang, Mona apologised, hastily putting his bowl down.
The Groundhog Effect, Part 2Mona listened to Tru and Harrison in amazement. It seemed that they also knew about Georges fate that night, and they suspected Mona of committing the crime. That meant that either Tru, Harrison or both of them were, like Mona, living through this day for the second time. But just who were these mysterious people, and just what did their appearance have to do with the day repeating itself?
God, its you again! George sighed, turning off his lawnmower as he saw Tru approaching him. Why cant you leave me alone?
Ive told you, George, Im worried about you, Tru said to him. I think youre in danger.
Just who the hell are you, turning up and asking me these weird questions? George scowled. Are you some sort of lunatic?
Please just answer me this, George, and then Ill leave you alone, Tru bargained. Do you know any va

The warmth of another summer morning was beginning to disturb Monas sleep. Despite having no covers over her as well as her bedroom window wide open, the oppressive heat still made Mona stick uncomfortably to her sheets with sweat. Fang had clearly not had the best of nights either. Within the space of an hour, sunlight was streaming through Monas bedroom window; she blinked blearily at its blinding rays.
Downstairs in the kitchen a short while later, Mona rifled through her mothers health food in search of something edible for breakfast. Just as Mona was about to decide once and for all that this search was definitely going to be fruitless, the telephone rang. Mona went to answer it.
Hello? she said sleepily.
Mona? squeaked a voice on the other end. Its Dottie.
Oh, hi Dottie, Mona said in mild surprise. Whats
The Elemental Five, Part 3Mona and Lily led the way home, with Charley, Dottie and the rest of the Zapiteers following behind.
I cant believe you got Mona bitten! Dottie hissed to Charley.
I was trying to help! Charley defended himself.
You mean you were trying to play the hero! Dottie snapped. Mona knew what she was doing, and who knows whatll happen to her now because of you?
You heard her, Charley pouted. She cant be a vampire and a werewolf, can she?
But Monas not always a vampire, Dottie pointed out. Shes a human as well.
She was a vampire when she was bitten, Charley snapped. Itll be fine.
Up ahead, Mona and Lily were also discussing the situation.
I cant believe Charley could be so stupid, said Lily. How could he get you bitten like that?
