The Ice Dragon's Egg, Part 3Drago helped Rio to climb up into the natural doorway formed by the rapidly widening fissure. In return, Rio reached down and hauled Drago up to join him. There was almost enough space for one person to escape now, but unfortunately the roof of the cave was becoming unstable, and dust was raining down upon Stiletta and Zyssa.
"Getting a move on might be a good idea," Drago remarked.
"But the top of the fissure is collapsing!" Zyssa squeaked. "The whole mountain is going to fall in on top of us!"
Drago stared at the widening gap, and saw that Zyssa was right. There was a natural lintel of rock at the top of the fissure, but it was clearly about to give way, and then they would be completely scuppered. Acting purely on impulse, Drago placed himself squarely in the gap and reached up to grab the rock lintel. He could feel the weight of the stones above trying to push him down, but he set his feet firmly and held his position.
"Are you sure you can hold
The Ice Dragon's Egg, Part 2When Drago and Stiletta finally arrived in Neve Valley, the sun was at its highest point in the sky. However, the hazy golden disc offered little warmth in the frozen wastes of Winteria, and could do nothing to melt the thick snow from the rocky landscape that surrounded the two travellers.
"Gosh, Drago, I'm glad you made me dress up like a Highland cow," Stiletta remarked. "This place is freezing!"
"That's Winteria for you," Drago smiled wryly, shivering slightly. "I really don't care for this kind of environment at all, I have to say. The sooner we can filch that egg and get out of here, the better!"
"You make the whole thing sound so easy," Stiletta laughed. "Surely you haven't forgotten about a certain unsociable reptile that breathes blue fire?"
"How could I forget?" Drago chuckled. "Well, I suppose we'd better make a start. Let's have a look at this map."
Drago withdrew the map from his knapsack and spread it out on a nearby rock. S

By Jake Collins
Drago Lestrade entered the dark cave, and followed the sound of voices into its inner recesses. He soon came across three familiar figures, eerily picked out by the flickering light of a small fire. All three were hunched over on the floor, and appeared to be engaged in the engrossing task of dividing up a large collection of gold coins.
"I am not sure that this will be enough," a striking female voice demurred. "I am well aware of the agreed sum, but "
"It will have to be enough, if we want to come out of this with a profit!" a commanding male voice interrupted. "We simply cannot afford to "
Drago shuffled his feet slightly and cleared his throat, whereupon three pairs of eyes fixed upon him with intense scrutiny and suspicion.
"Don't worry, it's only me," Drago attempted to reassure them. "You wanted to speak to me about something, I believe "
Leytan, Wren and Lad
The Heart of a Dragon, Part 3Following Leytan's directions, Lokie landed in a field about one mile away from the town of Warlock. A campfire had been set up, and it was being tended by a fairly short, definitely female figure. Leytan jumped off Lokie's back and went to speak to her.
"We can rest easy here for a while," Wren grunted to Drago and Stiletta. "We're protected here under the terms of the treaty of sanctuary."
"Yes, we know," Drago assured him. "Who's that over by the fire?"
"Temperance Warfield," Wren replied, somewhat guardedly.
"Is she another member of your gang?" asked Stiletta.
"She is a probationary member," Wren growled, narrowing his eyes at Temperance and Leytan. "Very much like you, Drago."
"That's assuming I want to join your operation at all," Drago said boldly.
"I'm sure you haven't forgotten the terms we agreed before your rescue," Wren said darkly. "You're one of us now, and you and your dragon will help u
The Heart of a Dragon, Part 2A short time later, Calwain and Stiletta were engaged in a heated discussion.
"I'm not at all sure that I'm happy about this, Stiletta," Calwain demurred. "What you are suggesting is a highly irregular interruption of routine "
"I have to relieve you, Calwain, on Treguard's orders," Stiletta reiterated her point. "He said you could take the matter up with him if you had any objections."
"Hmm, I just might do that," Calwain muttered, as he prepared to take his leave. "The Dungeon Master has never interfered with my carefully planned schedules before. Perhaps he'll consent to tell me why he's decided to start doing so now "
Stiletta listened carefully as Calwain's ringing footsteps and peevish muttering echoed back along the stone corridor, growing fainter by the second. Once she was absolutely sure that the Chief Ranger had gone, she dashed along the row of prison cells until she came to the one that was occupied. She peered through the bars
The Heart of a Dragon, Part 1THE FIRE & ICE CHRONICLES: THE HEART OF A DRAGON
By Jake Collins
In a seemingly deserted cave far below the Valley of the Airwan, a human figure stepped into a small area of incandescent light.
"Night-star!" Drago Lestrade called loudly. "Are you there, Great One? I am in need of your wisdom."
Almost immediately, Drago discerned a slow, deliberate movement in the shadows before him, as though the rocks themselves had come to life.
"Ah, Drago, how many times have you come to me in search of wisdom, and how many times have you left this cave secure in the knowledge that the wisdom you sought has been within you all along?" a deep, rumbling voice questioned, filling the cave and echoing off the walls in a most eerie fashion.
"Many times," Drago admitted, "but this time is different. There is a decision I have to make, Night-star, and I can't do it without your advice."
"Drago, there is nothing in the world you cannot do, for you have
