It is with great sadness that I have recently learned that our friend Deborah Valentine has a neurodegenerative condition ultimately leading to dementia, clinically diagnosed as Alzheimer's disease.

Along with Bernard Dumaine and Jean-Paul Miller, Deborah’s drive and enthusiasm was central to the formation of this Exquisite Corpse group on DeviantArt.com www.deviantart.com/theexquisit…. Who could have guessed in 2005 that this group would grow to include so many collaborations by amazing artists from all over the world. The impressive gallery of work produced by this group of friends is stunning and would not have happened in such a creative way without Deborah’s constant input and careful direction. So many deep connections between artists have been forged over the years and new collaborations continue to build on what Deborah started. Her mischievous sense of humour, her talents and surreal vision are clearly evident in all her work. I feel privileged to have been a small part of her life and greatly miss chatting with her and the excitement of seeing her new works. I send her love for all her efforts over the years, admiration for her constant inspiration, and gratitude that she has been a part of my life.

TheExquisiteCorpse group is an advanced skill level group.

To be a member you must create an EC.

Keep in mind, you cannot have a random person finish an EC if they are not in the group.

Try to match your skill level with your collaborative partner.

It is very important that your collaborative partner or you, are at an advanced skill level.  

We have had problems in the past when someone with lesser abilities tries to follow the next person in an EC.

Do not let your random friend finish an EC, you are not in the group.

Please don't try to join the EC if you are new at this.  Please come to me for a review of your collaboration.

TheExquisiteCorpse Club

I started TheExquisiteCorpse club a little more than 7 years ago and I have seen some amazing collaborations in these years.  The EC was created by myself and Bernardumaine Bernard has been one of the most inspirational artists on this site. I have seen some incredible transformations of skill and ideas over these 7 + years. I get compliments on the group daily, telling me it is their favorite group in DA.

I am not the most proficient artist by far. I love to make my drawings and play the EC game. Some people here  have the most beautiful control of the pencil and eraser.Velvety perfect shading , realism like nothing else I have seen, only in dreams.

I am blown away by their artistry every day. I am grateful that younger artists are inspired to draw because of the EC.  A lot of love was put into the concepts of the EC, 4-way drawings as well as double diagonal split, or just the regular left + right, top and bottom.

Whatever way you can collaborate,  do it.

Greetings surreal family

the-surreal-arts needs administrators and a new main moderator. I hope someone dedicated  and adheres to high standards can accept the post of a new owner of this historic and fantastic group. I have moderated the group for two years and will continue to do so. If anyone can donate to this group it would be such an amazing honor. I hope some surreal people can take over from :devHektorPinada:
he is a wonderful man and has run the group effectively.
