Young Stark was a prodigy of mechanical engineering and alchemist techniques.At 21, he took over his father's academy] and launched it into a hugely successful business.During a testing of new spells and weapons in Viet, Stark was hit by a piece of shrapnel from a booby trap.Stark creates an gem he dubs The Ark Crystal, to replace most of his heart, he later enchants a suit of armor, adding weapons and other incantations he created through his custom studies at his academy.He uses the suit and successive versions to protect the world as Iron Man.Although at first concealing his true identity, Stark eventually declared that he was, in fact, Iron Man in a public announcement.
