Ten Things You Should Know About TDIT

Deviation Actions

So I've just received my first dA tag from JustSoWalleCrazy :iconmu-cheer-girl:, and I figured this would be a good excuse as any to begin a new journal entry.

These entry rules.
. Each tagged person must post 10 things about Themselves on Their journal.
. At the end, You Have to chose and tag 10 people and post Their icons on the Same journal entry.
. Go to Their pages and send a message Saying you tagged Them.
. No tag-backs.

1. I'm a fan of parodies, mash-ups and crossovers across various media. Examples are Zucker and Abraham films, YTPs and Marvel vs Capcom video games. If it's a mix-up, I'm interested. I also make some of my own on my Youtube channel: www.youtube.com/thedriveinthea…

2. I'm an Agnostic. I believe there's a God upstairs, I just don't know who it is. I do go to temples to pray, but only when my mum (who's deeply traditional) drags me to them, and only for special occasions like Chinese New Year. I won't go into the details of religions, except to say that sometimes they can be biased towards authority and male chauvinism, which I don't condone.

3. I'm a Liberal. I support multiculturalism (brought about by legal immigration), same-sex marriage, separation of religion from the state (secular government), and environmental stewardship over economic gains. However, I don't support a welfare state (I believe people should be self-sufficient) and communism (I believe in a capitalist economy of meritocracy instead of 'sharing the wealth'), so maybe I'm really a centre-left.

4. I was born in Malaysia, with the mind of an American, the heart of a Singaporean, and a home in Australia. You figure that out.

5. I love movies, and I'm a crusader for animated films being appreciated on the same level as live-action ones. I believe that there has been a longstanding prejudice against 'cartoons' that the entertainment industry has to change, and studios like Pixar, Ghibli, Aardman, and to a certain extent, Dreamworks, Blue Sky and Animal Logic have been working on shifting that misguided paradigm.

6. I love books. Those without pictures, graphic novels, magazines, newspapers, I devour 'em all. It is a great pity most of my peers don't share the same passion for the written word, and feed their mind on banal 'reality' shows and adult anime. I believe that the mind has to be nourished as much as the body, and that what you are able to express in your work is the result of what you feed your noggin. Some of my favourite genres are fantasy, science-fiction and crime.

7. That said though, I spoil myself with a little television every now and then. I'm a sucker for police procedurals and espionage flicks. It's probably because I'm a straight guy who always follows the rules, and I respect the people who uphold the law. Or maybe it's because I just like action-packed car chases and gunfights.

8. I have a Macbook Pro, a Dell Studio 15, and a Sony PSP among my prized possessions. I also have a PSOne Slim I dust off to play Driver 2 on every so often.

9. Which brings me to my favourite video games. I like First-Person Shooters, Driving/Racing, and Open Sandbox games. I'm not a huge fan of puzzle games or RPGs cos' I prefer to just jump in and start the action straight away. There are some exceptions like Pokemon and Myst that I love.

10. I enjoy all kinds of food. Again, most of my friends are incredible 'food-ists' who won't venture out beyond their own cultures, but I love to sample cuisine from all over the world. I don't have to like all of them, but I do appreciate a few. Some of my favourites are tom yum goong, ramen, gumbo stew, Portugese fried chicken, beef ghoulash, and curry laksa.

Okay, time to return the favour. Some PPlaneteers have already been tagged, so I'm going with six...

It's really interesting to read about the personalities and opinions of one's friends, and you're no exception. Thanks for taking the time to share your likes and dislikes! :)

By the way, I wholeheartedly agree with you in regards to devouring the pages of a book. What a pity it is that too many individuals push their noses into the television screen when they could be swimming in a noteworthy novel. Granted, I spend an unhealthy amount of time on the computer myself, but I try to take the time out of my day to open up a book, as well.
