Hi i'm finally joining DeviantArt! As a newbee and a bit slow when it comes to technical stuff please comment any helpful hints and tips to help me get my page looking good- I have no idea what i'm doing!
I am soon turning 27 and have been sewing costumes since leaving college around 5 years ago. I would still say i'm a hobbyist and armature at sewing but i'm trying my hardest to have a little more confidence in myself and do more of what makes me happy and actually be successful at it.
I actually work full time in an office, a ob that pays the bills but I don't love or feel fulfilled by. This year I've been working hard week nights and weekends to really try to make a go of things to try and to start selling some of my costumes creations on Etsy and take on some new commissions.
I have worked alongside cosplayer and YouTuber Torathena on a number of projects and will soon be making the big journey to America with her as she has been invited to be a cosplay guest at Harrisburg Comic-con. One of her cosplays for the weekend will be Zelena from Once Upon A Time which I have made.
I've also been involved in a number of Torathena's YouTube videos 'making stuff' series in which you can see me making the Jessica Rabbit and Zelena costumes.
As I try to make a business for myself I am keen to make new contacts with photographers and models and also fellow costume creators, of course!. I don't have much money to pour into my hobby and would really love to team up with like minded creatives who are trying to get themselves started and build up more experience. If your a photographer with a vision but with out the skills to make the costumes come to life please get in touch, I would love to collaborate on any projects from cosplay to historical period costumes. Especially if anyone lives in the U.K.!
