Gameboy Advance Indigo Skin by TheCloudOfSmoke Gameboy Advance Indigo Skin by TheCloudOfSmoke
This is a Gameboy Advance skin for the VisualBoy Advance Emulator. This is my first skin for the VisualBoy Advance Emulator. I created everything from scratch including all text, buttons, and logos. This took me a long time to create. Almost about a month on and off. The graphics were created using Ulead PhotoImpact 8.0. If you like this or my Gameboy Advance SP skin [link] , please comment.

You may redistribute and share this skin with others, but ONLY if it's in it's original form
along with this ReadMe.txt, images, and all other files unmodified unless you have
permission from the the author. You may modify it for personal use but you may not redistribute
it modified.

1.) Unzip the .zip file into the Visualboy Advance folder or another folder that is easily

2.) Go to: Options=>Video=>Render Method=>Select Skin

3.) Select the .ini file.

Visualboy Advance 1.7.2 or higher is needed in order for the skins to work correctly.

The program can be downloaded at:

1.) (2) 1x and (2) 2x Skins
2.) Graphic and compact versions
3.) Moving Gameboy Advance buttons
4.) Commonly used commands

hey cloud :) when is the last time you've made a vba skin? been awhile myself. I was going though some old topics in X Haven and ran across the 2 you posted. Great job on both of those. Maybe I'll fire up ole cs3 this week and see what I can do with one.

Thanks. :) Hehe, it's been a while. Maybe like 2005 was the last time I made a vbaskin. I've gotten away from skinning things for a while. Now I'm into icon creation and vector based artwork. If I recreated the GBA with the skills that I have now, it would be photorealistic. Check out this WIP of an icon that I was working on a while back for VBA-M. Keep in mind that it's a work-in-progress and it's not finished yet. Given some more time, I could make it look photorealistic.

Here are some other WIPs too:

Great skin.
I tryed to find nice skins in many places, but the qualities were all very low... but this is great!

I play with the GBA Screen 2x (I like the other one better, but the screen becomes way too small).
But I'd also like to know if there's a way to make the screen larger.

Thanks for the comment/complement. :) There is no way through the emulator to make the size of the 1x skin larger. The only way that I can think of is to use some magnifying software to enalarge the skin but that may take a hit on the FPS of the game and it will double the pixels and make the Gameboy Advance pixellated. Also, changing the screen resolution to a lesser resolution will make things bigger on screen.

By the way, you may want to check out my other skins if you haven't already (Gameboy Advance SP and the Gameboy Micro). They have a much better design, and a much better 2x screen version.

With this skin, which I happen to like better than the SP one for some reason, could you happen to make another copy of it except do what you did with the SP version and make it transparent? I don't much like the silver box surrounding it... Other than that, this is the new skin I use... it ROCKS!

Thanks for you comment! :D If time permits, I may work on it to make it have a transparent background. No promises though, since I am just finishing up the second version of the faceplate skin for the Gameboy Micro version.

Dude, this is freaking awesome!!! Great job on the skin :)

Looks like this'll be my permanent skin for VBA ;) :#1:

If you like this, check out the rest of my VBA skins. Honesty, I think the other ones are better. Thanks for the comment. Feels good to see a new message waiting for me when I come here :D

Hey, it's no problem, and I've seen the other skins you've created. They're very impressive, especially your Gameboy Micro skin ;)

Cool skin. i like your GBA SP skin though

This was my first serious project so I was learning while I was making it. I learned from my mistakes and used techniques in my newer skins that I didn't know about when I was making this skin. As a matter of fact, I think this skin sucks when compared to my newer skins. :p

hmmm... your sp is way better to be honest, but this is still a pretty good rendition of a GBA. I think it might be better if you had a link cable coming out of the top maybe. i dunno, its good, but the SP one is just so much better.

Curious, I didn't know there was an emulator for the GBA.
Ever do any winamp skins? That's about all I use that's skinned.
