the next in the gods series I'm doing! This is a slightly boring one in that Janus has, in fact, got two heads in most depictions (in some he has four!). In fact, it's this rather unusual attribute that prompted the series. I started him first, and then decided to finish Minerva first.
Janus was the god of doorways, gates, transitions, beginnings, and so forth. He was commonly depicted with a staff and a key. His two heads represented looking forward into the future and backwards into the past at the same time.
