Description
Honoring the memory of: Dr Martin Luther King on his Holiday
Prismacolor Pencils (black & cream) on Canson Mi-Teintes Paper
scanned at original size
The story is as follows, "I wanted to do a Portrait of him today, I used to do his portrait for clients for years (starting in my Army days,... even winning a MLK portrait contest in Germany circa. 1982, garnering me 4 days off from work AND a cash prize) then, afterwards - selling the original to one of the other contestants !![;) (Wink) ;)](https://e.deviantart.net/emoticons/w/wink.gif)
Last night i started noticing my throat was getting sore, sniffing, blah blah blah. ... Woke-up and it was even worse! OK, who likes to draw a portrait when they have to turn their head to the right side constantly to sneeze AND to the left to cough ? ... I got my best-est friend to come over ((she's a gourmet cook of sorts)) to make a batch of her "Organic from scratch Chicken Soup" (( there IS healing properties in the marrow of the bones - ya know? ... NOT an old wives tale at all ))
With the sweet aroma of the broth on the stove top - I went about to quickly
sketch MLK -- I'm not totally pleased with it, but, considering it took
all of 1.2 hours... I guess it's OK
"
Martin Luther King, Jr. (January 15, 1929 - April 4, 1968) was an American clergyman, activist and prominent leader in the African-American civil rights movement. His main legacy was to secure progress on civil rights in the United States, and he has become a human rights icon: King is recognized as a martyr by two Christian churches. A Baptist minister, King became a civil rights activist early in his career. He led the 1955 Montgomery Bus Boycott and helped found the Southern Christian Leadership Conference in 1957, serving as its first president. King's efforts led to the 1963 March on Washington, where King delivered his "I Have a Dream" speech. There, he raised public consciousness of the civil rights movement and established himself as one of the greatest orators in U.S. history.

I was surprised because i was reading in ebony magazine that several AFRICAN AMERICAN hollywood celebrities apparently BLEACH THEIR SKIN LIGHTER using a stronger professional and prescription strength skin lightening lotion https://mansionhawaiibeauty.online/aha-alpha-hydroxy-acid-skin-lightening-bleaching-lotion-500-ml- because the lotion makes them look FAR more light skin & mixed race and not look black anymore. Here i am admiring black art , but it seems not everybody likes their dark skin.
