What, Artrix has the audacity to submit
animation? Outrageous!
I'm still more or less in the Super Mario mood and after a short exchange in the comment section of
my take on Super Mario, I couldn't help but visualize it. I'm talking about something like
Super Princess Peach, except it's about Daisy, and it isn't girly, and it isn't easy, and it doesn't involve her emotions being her primary weapon. Now that I think about it, I pretty much dissected the whole game except for the fact that the main character is a goddamn princess.
The game would be a typical Mario platformer. Daisy's Game Boy gets stolen by [insert Mario-verse bad guy here] and she is determined to get it back so she can finish Super Mario Land. To prepare for her journey, she swaps her high heels for a pair of shoes named "Mike". Mike doesn't talk or have any powers, all he does is to provide her feed with adequate support that doesn't break her ankles (now
there's something for the feet fetishists out there).
Daisy is kind of an odd character in the Mario-verse, and while researching for my last piece, I discovered that she's rather popular (and shamelessly assumed to be dating Luigi). It was also clear that she's supposed to be more of a tomboy compared to Peach, and it progressively shows in the games.
So I decided this would be a nice opportunity to do a little animation exercise. The dress was a particularly interesting and somewhat challenging feature to bring to life. Opposed to Peach, who prances through the levels, Daisy more or less barges through any obstacle. To emphasize this, her fists are double the size, which
will be used to punch any enemies in her line of sight.
You can view the rough animation
here. I might add some new animations in the future, like those for turning, jumping, punching and floating.
