Adamson University Design 8 - Midterm Architectural Project
the group was tasked to design a level three private-regional general hospital which demands high technological advancement in design and planning. The hospital should be on the class of St. Lukes, Asian Hospital and the likes in which must be top notch in medical care and facilities that pursue an internationally recognized standard that can only be seen on a number of general hospitals in the country.
the site is selected from the criteria that is suitable for a high end hospital that provides high end services. A hospital that has this high quality of medical services also means that it should immensely involve profitable considerations. Taguig city, particularly the Bonifacio Global City (BGC), compared to the neighbor Makati, is a rising star in terms of economical value, can extract more economical sense for the future. It is only just to proposed a high end hospital on a currently developing urban city.
BGC has a number of well-known hospital within its vicinity and one of these is the St. Lukes Medical Center. Filipinos are known follow trend. Everything new to them, they will try it and so that strikes an interesting proposal to compete with St. Lukes. Competition can't only be seen as a negative impact. in fact, competition lowers value and at thesame time increase the quality of services tehy can offer.
BGC is known for developing high rise mixed-use and highly-commercialized structures and so how will a mere general hospital can fit in? The design should make a statement on the surroundings. An expression that is unique on the environment of BGC and so, massive and extreme design was conceptualized.
Imagine a balance of contemporary and technology at the same time.
Everything in nature is equal. Noah's ark proves that a predator or a prey has a chance to be saved. Whereas, a poor or a rich can't change the inevitable death but have equal chances of cure.
Public realm enhance quality of life and so it is better to look at natural greens than to a blank wall of concrete.
Green spaces not only enhance the visual style of the environment but also helps clean the air around the hospital. Surrounded by highly polluted settings, it can block the access of pollution inside the must-be cleanest structure. Curtain wall on the highest part of the structure covered with controlled louvers that can act to minimize heat while allowing maximum natural lighting to enter the structure.
