JOURNAL HAS BEEN OVERHAULED TO PROVIDE UPDATED MODELS
unfortunately, DeviantArt Eclipse messed up the formatting. The links still work, just click on them.

In order to open the source files, you will need the following software:

  • For Switch files (Pokémon Let's Go! Pikachu/Eevee, Pokémon Sword/Shield): Switch-Toolbox [DOWNLOAD LINK]
Instructions: click the download link and then look for the latest version (the top one in the list). Then click the Assets menu and click Toolbox-Latest.zip to download it. You need to extract the contents of the ZIP file in order to use it.
MAKE SURE TO UPDATE THE PROGRAM EVERY MONTH, OR EVERY TIME A NEW GAME RELEASES TO GET BETTER COMPATIBILITYALTERNATIVE DOWNLOAD LINKS: [Ohana3DS MIRROR #1]

You may want to get mige5's Texture Fixer program for the textures!

The Texture Fixer is a Java application that will create copies of the Pokémon textures that will fix the problems with the UVs. The albedo textures are basically cut in half (when extracted from the source files), so this program will automate that process and will create copies of the textures with a prefixed "Fixed_" filename. Make sure to use the Fixed textures instead!

DOWNLOAD LINKS FOR THE MODELS:

This link contains all the models in their source format, directly ripped from the game's files. It includes the Pokémon models, along with Trainers, battle and field maps, and other miscellaneous stuff. It contains the textures too.
Thanks to Random Talking Bush for providing the models.Big thank you to TRDarnoc for providing download links.

The following links are models already converted to either DAE, FBX, SMD, OBJ, or all of them. Not everyone is available, if you want to get a Pokémon that is not in the following links, make sure to get them from the link above and extract it with the software mentioned above too.

MISCELLANEOUS DOWNLOADS:

Thank you to BellBlitzKing for providing a download link and to Avid29 and Afanyiyu for hosting them on GitHub.
Thank you to BellBlitzKing for the download links.

FAQ (frequently asked questions):

  • Ohana3DS crashes when I want to run it, what should I do?
Make sure you have Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 installed.
  • I keep getting "Unsupported file format", what happened?
You're most probably importing DAE, FBX, or SMD files into Ohana3DS, which is not the case. Make sure you are importing BCH files into Ohana3DS, which are provided in the download links above.
  • I don't have BCH files, I only have BIN files, did I get the wrong files?
They might have a BCH header (which means is actually a BCH file). Try importing it into Ohana3DS and if it works, then it's a BCH file! And hence, it worked!
  • I can't run this on my Mac, can you help me?
Unfortunately, the software provided here only works with Windows PCs. Probably using WineHQ might help you. If it doesn't work, then you're probably out of luck. Sorry.
  • How do I use Ohana3DS Rebirth?
To open a model, go to File > Open and then select the BCH/BIN file. Then click the green plus icon next to "Models" and select the first model (there are two, battle and overworld, the highest quality is the battle one, which is normally the top one.)
Now, click on Export, select the output location, and the format you want to export (DAE, SMD, or OBJ). Then click OK and done! You have your model ready for use!
  • The model doesn't work pretty well.
Try exporting it to another format, or, if you tried Ohana3DS Rebirth, try using the version I provided here. Sometimes, the version has to do with those models not working.
  • The UV mapping on the models is messed up. What did I do?
Try using the Texture Fixer. If it doesn't work, specify what's happening.
  • Can you give me <Pokémon>'s model?
Make sure first it's available in The Models Resource from the links above. If it's not there, then feel free to ask, but try not to ask for too many models, since I can't really do all the work. I hope you understand.

Might add more FAQs in the future, but for now, I think this is it.

Also, a big thank you for making this journal a hub to get 3D Pokémon models! I never expected this to be among the top results on Google. Thank you for reading, and have fun!

TIP: Use Pokémon Sun/Moon BIN files instead of the ones from X/Y and Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire.

The Sun/Moon BIN files work better than X/Y/OR/AS BIN files. Open them with Ohana3DS Rebirth and export them as SMD.

Now use Blender (2.80 or newer) and install Source Tools: http://steamreview.org/BlenderSourceTools/

(To install, go to Blender > Edit > Preferences > Install and select the ZIP file with Source Tools... DON'T UNZIP IT!)

Import the SMD file and export it to FBX, DAE or whatever.

Enjoy! x3

It's me again, it looks like the Texture Fixer link died. Also, what did that texture fixer do? I was gonna figure out how to port some of these to SFM for use.

CaptainCritz's avatar

I managed to get so close to getting a texture + model done, but Ohana3DS is crashing on file import.

There's probably a redistributable or something I'm missing but I don't know what it is or anything. I can't make any further progress so can you point me in the right direction or put the Pokémon Mothim in Blender/send a texture file compatible with Blender?

Edit: The help is no longer needed, someone in the Discord server I was in did it for me.

Sorry for the late reply. I'm glad they were able to help you. If you don't mind me asking, what was the issue exactly? I might add it to the FAQ.

Now I'm the late replier, but it seems to work fine now. I think the problem was that I downloaded the wrong Ohana3DS Rebirth, as I used the github download, not the one linked here. That's a big catch and I think it's the same way for others. Whatever's different between the two makes the difference between a successful import and a crash.

TheAdorableOshawott's avatar

If I remember correctly, the version of Ohana3DS Rebirth linked here has support for the Pokémon Sun and Moon models, while the one from the GitHub doesn't. I could be wrong, though.

I'm happy to hear it's working now, though.

What folders would those material and visibility animations be in from the mega link Blitzking shared?

For some reason, Ohana3DS is refusing to open bin files. Can you help me figure this out?

Hello, when I exported the models and textures, I imported them in Blender, but then now the textures of the model seem to be off. Help please?

Pokemon Game Assets Collection

Here is a centralized list of core assets people are hunting for:

  • To open/export Switch source files use: Switch Toolkit for Sword/Sheild (PMSwSh) and Let's Go Eevee/Pikachu (PMLG)

  • To open/export 3DS .bin files use: SPICA or Ohana3DS for Sun/Moon/Ultra and XYORAS

Yeah, I know about this. Thanks for providing this link, though.
BellBlitzKing's avatar

I posted these links here, for everyone, because your post above is among the top results in Google when hunting for Sun/Moon models. Your set is already in the bigger collection. When other people find this page, they can also see the extra resources too that's so commonly requested.

TheAdorableOshawott's avatar
I will update it later, I actually did not expect this post to be in the top results of Google, haha.

I didn't have the time to provide other stuff, so seeing these links may help a lot.
BellBlitzKing's avatar

Great to hear there will be an update! You open to adding more?

I've mapped out 60% of the Attacks and Z-Move .bin files, using SPICA, which exports the models + textures + animations for them.

After I've done all 775 attacks, would gladly add to your collection.

Yeah, the more content, the better! I may have to check 'em out and add them into the journal... and maybe change the title to add the models from Sword and Shield. lol
BellBlitzKing's avatar

I'll get the Attacks/Z-Moves set to you them. Also found the creator of the 3DS + Switch models pack, which is by RandomTBush, a major modder from VG-Resource. You two should connect.

Can someone point me to the Sword and Shield animation files? The ones in this collection (awesome, btw) have models, rigs, and textures, but no animations like the others. Thanks!

TheAdorableOshawott's avatar
They are in the Models Resource already.

Why is Moon's hat next to her feet?
TheAdorableOshawott's avatar
That's how the models were made and set, but the game sets the hat above Moon's head. You should be able to move the hat and put it above her head.
TerusTheBird's avatar
Wait a minute, if I have to move the hair and the hat myself, then it's never gonna be the same as in the games, and there may be errors.
TerusTheBird's avatar
Okay! Do you know what the filenames for the default outfit are? If so, can you tell me?

Hi @TheAdorableOshawott, I have successfully imported the daes I needed of Moon / Mizuki / Selene. The textures appear to be greyed though. I figured this means it's a generic texture, then I remembered character customization was a thing XD. Do you know or do you have a link to some explanation on how to pick colors for generic textures in Blender? Thank you very much!!
