You can tell how much a person knows about Metal Gear based on their reaction to the Paz Ortega Spirit Battle in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The detail that stands out to everyone is the bob-bombs that rain from the sky during the battle. Many players believe the bombs are a reference to Paz's death in Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes, where a bomb is planted in her womb, which detonates and kills her as she jumps out of a helicopter to try not to take anyone with her. People genuinely got upset by this and I have to question whether these people ever played Paz's debut game, Peace Walker, and why on Earth they think Masahiro "Good Boys and Girls" Sakurai would allow such a tasteless joke to make it into the game. Surely, if that was their intent, they'd put in Electrodes, come on. No, the actual reference with that detail, and the rest of the battle, is the ZEKE fight in Peace Walker. ZEKE is hijacked and piloted by Paz, hence the Giant ROB from the ZEKE Spirit Battle joining

Hello and welcome to Wasted Plotential, where we discuss the wasted potential of our favourite plotlines. Rivalries in fighting games rarely ever actually develop and change as the series continues. They tend to go one of two ways: they typically will either stagnate and lack any sort of development or progression, or they will simply stop because it's reached the point where the involved parties want to kill each other and you'd have to remove one from the series if it actually went anywhere. Jann Lee and Leifang is probably the best example of the former. This rivalry goes all the way back to the original Dead or Alive from 1996. Jann Lee saved Leifang from a group of thugs, but rather than being grateful for his intervention, she instead felt incensed, insisting that she could have dealt with it herself. As such, once she learns he will be competing in the first DOA, she opts to do the same, intent on defeating him and proving that she can defend herself. Her DOA3 bio seems

"Fierce Battle" - one of the most misunderstood elements of all of MegaTen. And considering how dense the MegaTen/Persona fandom can be with basic reading comprehension, that's bloody saying something. Little of this music track is actually understood, with even the name being referred to as "Fierce Battle", when it's actually "Forced Battle" to signify that it's used in fights you are forced into, not fights that are tougher than average. According to the wiki, anyway. And then we have the actual lyrics. The primary cause for the misinterpretation is that the vocals are all performed via text-to-speech, which is somewhat unclear, even when isolated, and the music really drowns it out. This may be intentional, to make the words more difficult to parse to give the track a more eerie feel, as if beings far beyond the player's comprehension are speaking. There's a reason it took three hours to dissect its myriad issues in the big kritique and even then, I still missed a few details, like why was the Shaolin Massacre necessary if Kronika can just teleport directly into the Dragon Grotto? Why are Liu Kang and Kung Lao assisting in the extermination of their Shaolin brethren? There's too much wrong with it to even attempt to fix it in one video, so MK11's getting an entire series of WPs, starting with fixing the flaw in the game's core concept. Seeing how this trilogy was kicked off with time shenanigans, bringing that back in the third part of the trilogy set it up as the big climax of this arc, as if everything from 2011 has been building up to this... so why does it feel like this plot development came completely out of nowhere?
