New Folders and New Features

Journal Entry: Mon May 23, 2016, 12:09 PM

Hello everyone!

It’s been a while since we’ve posted something on this journal.

First we want to let all of you know that the, DAZ/Poser Characters, gallery is full and has been closed and archived. We opened a new gallery for all of those awesome characters done in DAZ or Poser, so keep that in mind when submitting your work.
We've also opened a new gallery for Sketchup artworks.

On another note, we thought it would be fun and educational to post on our journal a monthly collection of the best tutorials sent to our galleries each month. So if you have a really cool tutorial and would like to share it with the community, please send us a note at the same time you submit it to the gallery, and we will make sure to review it and keep it in mind for our monthly posting.

For this first entry I would like to share one of my own tutorials.

This tutorial was originally designed to complement the Organic Modeling class I taught at Ex’pression College, and it is for all intents and purposes a duplicate of what was taught in class.

The, ZBRUSH Character Sculpting and Human Anatomy, tutorial is a collection of 23 separate recordings that teach the ins and outs of character creation with a marked emphasis in the implementation of correct human anatomy. ZBrush and Maya are the tools used in the creation of the character model with about 95% of it being done in ZBrush.

This tutorial is well over 25 hours of complete instruction on how to make a human male character.
You will learn about proper anatomy, form, proportion and gesture. In addition, many of the most important ZBrush features —such as ZSpheres, Dynamesh, ZRemesher, Polypaint, masking, selection techniques, and polygroups— will be demonstrated.
Towards the end of the course we will be talking about re-topology, and the correct use of edge-loops, while creating a low-res mesh based on the hi-res sculpt using ZBrush’s ZSpheres and Maya’s Quadraw tool.
All of the tutorials were recorded in real-time (with the exemption of a very few parts that needed to be sped up), so you will get to see every little detail and mistake made during the creation of the character.

Due to their size, these recording are not hosted in DA servers, so I am providing the links to YouTube where I hold my channel.
If you have any questions about any of the content on these recordings, please let me know by posting your question in the comments section of the tutorial you are referring too, or you can leave your questions here in this Journal also. I will do my best to answer as many questions as time allows.

Thank you and I hope you will enjoy these tutorials.

And please, by all means let us know what you think about this new feature. Is it something you guys would be interested in?

Gallery Submission Rules!!!

Please Read before Submitting any art work to the Group!

The Rules

We encourage our members to share as much information about their work with the community.
This not only helps the viewer form a well rounded opinion about the artwork they're seeing, but it also helps us (group moderators) a lot when it comes to accepting artwork into the group galleries.

We understand that not everyone wants to include a bunch of information with their artwork, but at the very least we require for EVERY submission to have a description stating what software or pieces of software were used in the process of its creation.
If the art piece is a collaboration, the description should include and name each one of the artists involved, and provide a working link to their Deviant Art page or private website. These are requirements that must be met before we can accept any submission. NO EXCEPTIONS!!

- It Must be 3D, made with 3D software!
3D software like: Maya, 3D Studio Max, Zbrush, Cinema 4D, Luxology Modo, Lightwave, Blender, Google SketchUp, Wings 3D, MudBox, Poser, Daz Studio, Vue and more!

- You need to be a member of the club to submit in our group gallery's
you need to be a member to submit into most of our gallery's, but you don't have to be a member to submit into our Tutorials, Resources and References gallery folder!

- You need to submit into the right gallery folder
Failing to submit into the right gallery folder will result in your submission being denied!

- No porn, hurtful, violent or sadistic pieces are allowed! Artistic use of nudity only
We don't accept any art work that has sexually suggestive nor explicit material in them,
as well as pieces depicting violence against women, children nor animals. NO EXCEPTIONS!

- No screen grabs or art work containing characters extracted from game software.
Due to legal issues we will not accept proprietary characters extracted from game software, or any artwork done in SFM, Garry's Mod, XNALara, XPS, MMD, Metasequoia or similar software. NO EXCEPTIONS!

- Only 1 Submission per Day
Sorry for the submission cap, we have over 5000 members, so if we didn't have the cap it would be to much!

Thanks for reading, and if you keep to the rules your work will get accepted in the club!

Can i ask for help with 3Ds max here?

I need to import independent  looped animation ,  which will be mostly walk and other particular ones  into existing scene. It also means that i'll need to assign the same animations to multiple characters.  I am thinking of making mixed animation for one character as well.

Thanks in advance.

hi, me again... i submitted a pic a few days ago, was pretty sure it belonged in the daz scenes folder (saw a vaguely similar one there). as no accepted note came after +-1 day (it usually happens quite fast) i thought well, wrong folder maybe. so i retracted it, re-submitted it in the nudes folder (even anatomical study doesn't apply), and still, no accepted note. daz characters makes no sense for me.
if it's just that the mods are busy with many submissions and haven't gone through, no problem at all, i can wait.
but if it's the wrong folder again - how am i even supposed to know? - i'm at total loss, no idea where else it could possibly belong..
a little help here? it's about this: portisheart.deviantart.com/art…

hi ^^ & question: collaboration means explicit teamwork between artists, right? because while i always cited my sources (= models, morphs etc creators - i use daz studio) anyway by respect & admiration and for information, i never really considered it as a collab...
which means i write creators & products/freebies, but i rarely link ~

We only need the information on the other party if you have made a collaboration with someone. We consider a collaboration where more than one person is directly responsible for a part of the development of the art piece in question. So if you made a 3D piece and then passed it along to someone to finish, —or add hair, or animate, or rig, so on and so on— then they need to be attributed and a link to their page must be added to the description area. Let me know if you need any more help.
