Gandalf in the scene: "Very Old Friends in The Fellowship of the Ring.

Not even the smallest detail escapes this shrewd Wizard's gaze.

It's difficult for me to recall if there has ever been a time that I've been more pleased with my own work than I am right now. Surely "Elfstone" stands out to me as an unprecedented achievement, but this one surpasses them all. I'm sure that having immense fun with the whole thing helped my opinion of it though. There's just something about old people that makes them a delight to draw.
As the fifth portrait in the series I must say it is my favorite. Also, I count it a happy coincidence that i was able to get around to painting Gandalf so close to the theatrical release of The Hobbit.
