I really wanted to do an entirely original piece for Christmas and even had a few good ideas, but having finished Winter on the fourteenth (and a very detailed commission less than a week before that) I just didn't have the time to go through the whole composition process. I was listening to "It's a Pony Kind of Christmas" to try to get some inspiration, and noticed the pleasant little scene depicted in the cover art. Being sorely pressed for time and not seeing any better option I decided to do something I hardly ever do, copy. Well, sort of. Not much caring for the cool color scheme of the castle, I replaced it with the Golden Oak Library, a much more suitable backdrop for such a warm, cozy scene. I also completely changed Rainbow Dash's pose, and made more subtle changes to the rest of them. I certainly can't see myself making a habit of taking such blatant shortcuts, but this time around I thought it better than not doing anything. Maybe next year I'll do myself a favor and start my yearly Christmas project in June.
Anyway, for all you 3100+ people who like my stuff well enough to watch me (and anyone else who happens to see this), have a very Merry and safe Christmas! Seriously, we're almost through 2016. Just a few more days!

Happy Hearth's Warming and Happy New Year!
Oh, yes. Definitely.
It is interesting, my first fanart from you is a Hearth's Warming Eve fanart as well, and most of the fanarts I have collected from you are such, and now I'm here again, another fanart for Hearth's Warming Eve, full of beautiful details.....
I just sat here for several minutes, letting my eyes wander over the picture and taking it all in, all the little details..... I'm astounded that this is even possible with watercolor.
I hope you won't mind if I use this picture for a little video I want to make tomorrow or over the next days. It is perfect for it.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!
So it's a copy, that doesn't mean you can't put a spin on it nor does that mean the picture itself is automatically bad. In fact, I'd say this painting is proof that, and especially since you did put a spin to the original art itself, you can take what one did and make it even better. In this case, I like what you did with Dashie. It's cute!

This is a gorgeous scene, so warm and loving despite the chilly weather outside. The ponies all look fantastic being so cheerful to celebrate the holiday. Also, it's really nice for a look back before Twilight became a princess and, better yet, the Golden Oaks library was still standing. You did a fantastic job on the place, and I love all of the details in the design and so many wonderful books and decorations and other trinkets placed throughout; the snow sticking to the tracery of those unique windows (which I've always loved) adds to the feeling of how cold and windy it is outside. Fortunately the roaring fire and the glow of its light – and the glow of happiness surrounding the ponies and dragon – make it all feel wonderfully safe and comfortable. Of course Twilight would be reading as part of the celebration, and it seems that Spike and a few of the others are happy to listen. Fluttershy looks so adorable with that big bright smile as she serves the holiday treats. It's also wonderful to see Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash working together so happily to put the finishing touches on the tree. Rarity looks fabulous in her holiday dress, and she shines more than the light of her magic as she offers up a gift.
TLTR, you did a fantastically detailed and beautiful job all around. Thanks, and have at least as wonderful a Christmas yourself.
Merry Christmas! ^^
Thank you, and Happy Hearth's Warming to you too!
