Nakajima Ki-44-II [JA-OTL]

Dedicated interceptor, utilized to maximum effect in the Home Islands during the latter stages of the war. Above the captions are either victory markings or unit emblems. Also something that would take a lot of interest in.

Powered by a firm-made Ha-109 14-cylinder radial engine, it was armed with either a quartet of 12.7mm machine guns, or in some cases, the caseless, 15-round 40mm Ho-301 cannon, although many were removed due to disappointing results.

Derelict aircraft were utilized by both the Nationalists and the Communists during the Chinese Civil War; the latter serving until the early 1950s.
