The small party finished their meal and relaxed in the late summer sun, sitting around their small fire on the bluff north of Pilitak. Occasionally the wind would pick up and the peak would be buffeted for a few seconds before the winds calmed again. On the other side of the bluff the puffins had returned to their nests after the chaos the Tokotas had caused to retrieve their lunch. Every so often a few of the birds would flutter off from their nests and out to the dark sea to the east, only to return with their colorful beaks filled with fish to share with their mates and their young.
Rorin, after finishing his food, was resting against Orion’s flank, looking out over the ocean, his arms crossed behind his head. Orion was curled around Rorin as he rested under his human companion.
