A Teachable Moment (Fishing)
Artemis could see the salmon leaping up the falls, determined to reach their spawning grounds. And as they leaped, some were caught in the mouths of the waiting bears. There weren’t many bears here and among them was even a few cubs that looked like this was their first time as well. “I thought this might be a better place to try our luck,” Orion said, stopping to look over the scene, “Most of the bears here are quite young, and mothers bring their cubs here as well, we shouldn’t have too much trouble finding a spot, and then we can see about teaching you to fish, little one.” Orion started walking again, a

It was early, the sun was lighting up the sky but it was still behind the thick trees that made up the Aqtuquaq. The cabin was quiet and Artemis was still sleeping in the loft after Rorin had left when she heard something from the first floor. She wasn’t sure what it was at first and then it happened again, the deep chuff unmistakable, Orion. “Artemis!” Orion chuffed once more, he was trying to wake her but he wasn’t sure if it was working, just as he was going to call out to the younger female again she came hobbling down the stairs. “Good morning sleepyhead.” Orion said nuzzling the smaller Tokota, &#8220

Tokotas Easter Festival 2019: Entry Three
After a long day of celebrating the spring season in town, Rorin, Orion, and very tired Artemis made their way home. Rorin once again carrying his basket, though the eggs it contained were now painted with pastel designs. Artemis, tired as she was from a day spent chasing the local children around the tables of their families, was having trouble walking a straight line down the dirt and gravel path to the trios cabin, occasionally bumping into Orion who was still in awe. He had spent the majority of the day aiding Nagruk in the collecting of eggs and later he had even painted a few. As the small group neared the cabin, the sun was hidden by

Tokotas Easter Festival 2019: Entry Two
It had been a few days since Orion had aided Sikrinerk in capturing a rabbit on the edge of the Verinant Valley, and while he had yet to see any other deities as Sikrinerk had said he might, the spring festivities had begun. Tokotna was covered in a blanket of colorful wildflowers that bloomed as the snows retreated and the fields were once again able to bask in the warm sun. The town that Rorin, Orion, and Artemis lived near was full of color as well. In preparation for the holiday the town had been decorated, colorful banners of all colors crossed the main road, strung up between the shops and businesses that lined it. Many people had wreat

Tokotas Easter Festival 2019: Entry One
Spring had well and truly returned to Tokotna, the snows had receded to their summer ranges, sticking to mountain peaks and the northern parts of the territory, leaving the rest of Tokotna to bloom and flourish in the warm sun. For many it was a time of intense work, clearing land, plowing fields, planting crops and tending to them or raising a new generation of livestock, but for those who made much of their living in the winters, as Rorin and Orion tended to do, this time of year was a welcomed, and needed rest before the summer arrived and they were back to gathering and preparing for the coming winter while the weather was still at its be

Weekly Quest: Three's Company
Rorin and Orion made their way home after another disappointing attempt at taming. This wasn’t their first defeat but Orion was being to lose hope. Rorin could tell from the Tokotas trudging steps that this one had hit him especially hard. Rorin sighed trying to get the Tokotas attention to no avail. He threw his arm around Orion’s neck, patting the other side gently, “I know pal, I’m going to miss him as well,” As Rorin spoke, Orion looked up to look at him though he didn’t raise his head, “This was always a possibility, and it’s a risk we take when we try and help someone find a home.” R

Toko Polo (Continuous Events)
Spring had returned to Tokotna and with winter’s departure came a welcome departure of the snows that had blanketed the land for the last few months. The days were warmer and the nights were starting to get shorter and once more Tokotna was awakening. For the people and Tokotas it was the busiest time of year, farmland had to be prepared and seeds sown, and while everyone worked hard to prepare for the growing season it meant they also had to find time to play hard while they still could. Rorin and Orion once again found themselves entering the massive clearing that houses many of the areas events. All around them people and Tokotas ali

Kesuk Bay Akota Sanctuary: Max Entry Three
“Do you guys like to swim?” Luke asked. The young boy was laying on his back staring up at the sky, watching the clouds move. By now it was early afternoon, and the group had finally calmed back down. Rorin was sitting a few feet away, leaned against a tree sketching the Akotas nearby. Alice had nursed Max when they had finished playing and he was napping against his mother’s flank. Rorin looked up from his journal, “Orion does and I don’t mind it, but Artemis hasn’t had a lot of chances to swim where we live.” he said smiling at the scene. Artemis had fallen asleep curled up next to Orion who was rel

Kesuk Bay Akota Sanctuary: Max Entry Two
Rorin thought that their first interactions at the Sanctuary went well. Luke seemed pleased with how the meeting went, and Rorin was happy that at least Alice was somewhat relaxed when he interacted with Max, though he knew Happy was going to be a harder nut to crack. He had told Luke that he and Orion and Artemis would return the next day to interact with them again, and hopefully gain more of their trust. Rorin wasn’t sure if they’d be willing to part with Max just yet but like his interactions with wild Tokotas and the ones at the TCA that were looking for a home, he figured it was at least good practice for him and the animals
