Stone Punks - Muna ReDesign

I apologize for this fourth relatively static and uninteresting  midriff-bearing character pin-up in a row, but whatever. Here's something I've been thinking about doing for a long time now. This here's a potential redesign of Muna the Huntress, one of the main characters from my comic Stone Punks

'Stone Punks' Episode 1 - Cover Page by Bradshavius

As you can see, before, she was a blond Caucasian of some sort. Which is fine, by the way, nothing wrong with blond Caucasians. However, later it dawned on me that a disproportionate amount of the protagonists of my various stories happened to be blond Caucasians (Sir Dufius, Gulluck, Albida, and a handful of others I've yet to reveal). This, I realized, was rather monotonous. So I decided to change things up a bit with one of them, namely Muna. Even as I was working on the comic, I had thought about an alternate design where she was more brown, and rather liked the idea. There wasn't any particular reason why she ended up being a blond Caucasian, that's just how she originally appeared to me when I was first brainstorming the idea of the story, and I just stuck with that.

But now I've finally decided to sit down and draw out exactly how she would look if dipped in chocolate, so to speak, and I think I much prefer this new version. She's more visually interesting, especially with her long mess of dreadlocks flowing behind her. She also meshes better aesthetically with the rest of the cast, I think. And while I was at it, I tweaked her costume, too. I added more arm (and leg) bands, made some designs on her top and loincloth, and got rid of her anachronistic boots, as they didn't really seem to go well with the rest of the outfit. Seeing as she's a huntress and all, I figured being barefoot might be more advantageous for sneaking up on prey rather than having big, clumsy boots.

Now you might be wondering why I've even bothered with the redesign in the first place. If that's the case, allow me to elaborate. Stone Punks is by far one of my favorite story concepts to date, possibly even in my top three, certainly within my top five (there's a reason it's the only completed work I've ever produced). I know it's been a long while since I last worked on it, and I feel if I tried continuing it as it currently stands, it would be almost like back-tracking for me, as I feel I've improved a pretty good bit since then. My style now wouldn't match the style I had started with. I'm sure you can figure out where I'm going with this.

At some point, I would like to reboot Stone Punks

I might even make it one of the handful of "pitches" I'm in the process of working on, but not before I try something else first, since I did actually produce a comic of it fairly recently. But after a few of my other comic pitches, I'll definitely give this a revisit. Although I don't know if it can hardly be called a "reboot". Maybe think of the first version as a "pilot episode", and then the next version the real thing.

So what do you think of this redesign? Do you like it? Do you not? Does it even make any difference? Is it actually somehow racist by some contrived, esoteric means unbeknownst to me???? Let me know what you think.

I think the original with the bare feet is a better idea, to be honest.

I really do think barefoot goes better with her design since she's a huntress. I am also digging the new design. Dipping her in chocolate was a great idea. :D

It is much better for her to barefoot than wearing those clumsy boots, of course.

While I do like the original design more than this new one, I think that it looks good as a concept, and if you choose to use this design over the first one, I'll still be around to read and enjoy your comics.
