Speedpainting animals is pretty easy with the right brushes. As with any medium, it's all a matter of knowing your materials. I started with a black background, sketched in the eyes, nose & ears then built up the rest with fur brushes in 3 different shades of grey. The eye colour is 4 layers - base colour, shading, then top black lineart with the white highlights as the top layer, opacity dropped to 90%. I love working in Krita; it's like all the best bits of GIMP and MyPaint in one, but an easier learning curve than GIMP or Photoshop.
