Drops In The River - Part TwoMiddas of the next week is unusually ashy. There’s enough wind in the morning to blow thick clouds from the volcano over the Starved Plains, and then little enough wind in the afternoon that those clouds fall from the sky in a choking grey snow.
Little could be more frustrating. Efforts to restore the soil are abandoned as Kaneeth and Utadeek raise ward spells over the few places where they’ve managed to get crops to grow, and Reesa and Gam-Kur hurry from village to village, handing out healing herbs and using magic to draw ash from the lungs of those unlucky enough to have breathed it in. By the end of the day, all four of them are filthy, disheartened, and completely exhausted.
Gam-Kur and Utadeek, understandably, head back to their tents without further ado, but Reesa lingers, looking out over the village they’ve just left. So Kaneeth lingers too, because – well, she’s been running around in the ash all day, and it’s only gentlemanly to make sure
Drops In The River - Part OneNo one who has been hatched and raised in the heart of Black Marsh has ever known silence. Even in the grip of an evening as cool and dark as this, the swamp is alive, a chirping, rustling, screeching thing. Noises echo from the roots and the water, from the tangle of branches overhead, from the knots of undergrowth that snag at the feet of Whispers-To-Water and her grandson as they pick their way through thorn and fern towards the river’s edge.
Reaching the bank, Whispers beckons her grandson forward. He follows her warily, examining the ground before he places his feet there, tapping at the mud with his tail to make sure he will not sink into it. His caution makes Whispers’ mouth twitch upwards. The reckless do not live long in Black Marsh – those who do not step carefully will drown in quickmud before they reach adulthood. But those like Kaneeth, who learn the ways of the swamp and know to respect it… they will have a place here.
Adventurers for Hire: Skyrim's Opportunities Ch 218 Second Seed 4E 200
Dear Ma and Pa,
I’m sorry I haven’t written as often as I should, but things have been quite busy up here.
Quite a lot has happened since my last letter. (Sorry again!)
J’Khasha and I have been all across Skyrim, and have made quite a few Drakes already.
But our biggest payout came just over a week ago, some children were abducted by a group of barbarians intent on sacrificing them for some necromantic ritual.
Khash and I, along with this Khajiit warrior named Khayla, stopped them just in time to save a little girl named Lucia from being killed.
The parents were, of course, thrilled at the safe return of their children, and rewarded us handsomely.
But our real reward came the following day.
Khash and I had travelled to a nearby town to sell off some extra gear when a guard stopped us, the Jarl of the Hold (think count) wanted to meet with us.
After we finished our business in town,

Another contraction sent waves of intense pain throughout Bhuki’s body, causing her to cry out and squeeze her husband, Do’Diraaj’s hand even harder. Ever the stoic warrior, Do’Diraaj only winced, despite the audible crack of bone. After what felt like an eternity, the contraction ended, and Bhuki gasped desperately for air. The midwife, an Ohmes Khajiit woman about Bhuki’s age, smiled and nodded her approval. “Very good Shaman. You’re nearly there!” She said in a soothing voice that just made Bhuki want to gouge out her eyes.
“You’ve been saying that for three damn hours!” Bhuki snarled. “How is this time any different?!”
The midwife looked up from her task, smiling warmly. “Because your first cub has crowned. When the next contraction hits, you’ll have to push!”
Bhuki was thrilled her
