A Cold Place

The small planet of "Nova Antarctica". A frozen wasteland that holds vast treasures in form of meteorites that have buried themselves in the ice over millions of years. Prospector groups hunt down their positions and hover transports use ant-grav lifters to extract and carry them back to the outpost. All this happens at temperatures of -40C on a warm summer day like the one shown in the image.

Check the full size image for all detail!

Set up and rendered in Vue 8 Infinite. Outpost model from Skynet3020 and hover lifters from Powerage.

Great job on this. Looks like a pretty desolate place for a day job.

Seems like it should be a war-strategy game. Setup your base, gather resources, fight over a frozen planet...:O

Thanks! I have played a few real-time strategy games over time, so, yes, that is definitely where some of the inspiration came from...

I like the atmosphere, and even the terrain looks like we're in one big crater too, perhaps the biggest treasure is right under that station :O

Could be. Maybe there is another image in there, somewhere...

Yes you did :) Also good job on the terrain. Just the Station with it's metall texture without snow looks a little out of place.

Thanks. There is actually a snow layer on there. You can (sort of) see it at the bottom of the radar dish and if you look at the blue parts. However, we are looking at the shadow side of the station, so there are almost no highlights and the snow layer sort of blends in...
