So I've seen a couple rumors recently, one where deviantART was going to delete accounts, another where deviantART is selling artwork to third party companies like Hot Topic.

I'm typing this to educate you on telling the difference between rumors and the truth.

Research!

If you heard that something is going to happen and you're frightened about it, instead of panicking, do research!

There are many ways to tell if it's a rumor or not, like:
  • Watch hq. Since they give out all official deviantART news, if you hear about something similar to account deletion and want to know if it's true, then go there.
  • Google is your friend. If you see a journal about a "hacker going around", why not Google some key words and see if it's true or not?
  • Ask the staff directly. if you feel the need to contact the deviantART staff directly, then file a General Inquiry ticket at the helpdesk.

Journals

Never post a journal telling people to spread misinformation! It's a dumb thing to do.

If you see someone who fell for these rumors, then try and educate them.

Recent Rumors

deviantART is deleting accounts!
No they aren't, it specifically states in the official FAQ that any account on here will not be deleted.
FAQ #201: Do you close unused accounts, or release them to the public?

deviantART sold this person's artwork to Hot Topic without permission!
It says under the submission agreement that they can't do that. It's a little hard to notice, but it's there. This is Hot Topic's fault, not deviantART's.

There is a hacker on the loose! Spread the word!
No, don't spread the word, please look into the matter and see if it's a hoax or not, and it most likely is.

Thank you for reading, and remember: Stay devious :fella:

#79) As a woman should I be worried that the people that run our fandom are guys primarily (example: Equestria Daily)? I must say I was a bit offended when I saw sexualized ponies getting featured. Answer: This is a fantastic question, because it's so multi-faceted and it raises genuine points about larger issues that exist in society. Despite feminism and suffrage, and policies that increasingly purport to grant women greater levels of equality, women are still marginalized in a lot of circumstances. It's fair to say that Equestria Daily is a male-run website. You have the occasional female admin (Phoe springs to mind) but naturally, Sethi

Step 1: An idea Think a general idea for your superhero/villain: it could be an alter ego,  power, just anywhere you can start from, and build the hero around this core idea. Step 2: Origins How did your person become a hero/villain/sidekick? was she/he born with special powers? Did he/she get them in later life? Or is he/she simply a regular person who decided to do some good/evil? Whether there are super powers or no,
