Daddys Farewell

**TRIGGER WARNING** Grief, loss.

On June 11th, 2023, my father, Daniel, my best friend, lost his battle with MS. As hard as it is, I want to honor his memory. Each flower is a representation of those in his life, including myself, who have wept and felt the impact of his absence.

On May 14th, 2023, I also lost my big sister Krisse, who lost her battle during her recovery journey... I’ve drawn a memorial tattoo I had placed on my shoulder of Wednesday Adams in her memory. I created one for my father as well and it sits right below her piece. 🖤

These losses have left me with feelings words can never fully describe. I miss them with all of my heart and soul... Until the day they were lost they had always loved my art and wanted me to continue creating and sharing my work. It’s been an extremely hard and tragic time, but I try to be strong for them and what they wanted for me. To be happy... To create art... Despite this impossible weight, I haven’t given up. 🖤

UPDATE: I’ve resubmitted this with the finished piece. It’s not perfect, its taken a year for me to finish it, but I put my whole heart into it. This is the result of I was able to finish 🖤

-The stairs represent the steps my father couldn't take when he got too sick. I like to imagine he's free to walk all of the stairs and steps that were taken away from him, and that those steps have led him to a place much better than the one he left behind.

-The water is a symbol of the tears his loved ones have wept, especially mine. It could fill an ocean, and then that ocean itself could not contain the tears we've cried for him, so much, that they would have to waterfall off the edge of earth forever.
