Mmm, I never really payed much attention to the symbols before, but I guess I know now. I didn't know much about convexity either, just knew what it could do and it's name, but who knew there was something more deeper about the element than I anticipated or anyone. Aether and dark aether, didn't know there was two sides of the coin of it, so does that mean what Spyro used in the first game against Cynder to defeat her was actually the light version of aether? I would have to assume so if that was the case. Really fun stuff, learning new things everyday. Now you have a new icon for all of us to recognize.

Thanks CelestialDragonSun and LumeralLightstar
Aether was the original name for it when it was made, and I named the breath weapon texture icon after it, which can be found in the actual game data from all those years ago. So in a very real sence it is it's true name, only forgotten and buried by the mysteries of time
That's probably why Spyro himself doesn't yet know the name I imagine...

Hello SarahSpyborg259
A resonating question... one I shall endeavour to answer when next I post about the Aether ability class
However, for now just know that Aether's strength resides within its' connection to the cosmos and to spirit energy. It deals in matters that exceed those of the terrestrial elements and draws on deep powerful magics of ancient celestial origins... we're talking the power of suns, gravity and passing comets, and the stuff the very Universe is made of
This energy can be harnessed, and it is all about how Aether uses energy to be sure, as it taps into the very well spirng of the Purple Dragon; its' Spirit, or the spirit of others. In this way energy can be transferred (as might be in the case of say healing using the 'light' Aether) but other aspects of a dragon's energy can be transferred as well... or even taken.
As I'd mentioned some time ago, Dark Aether leaves a mark, and Cynder knows this all too well. I'd stake much on the idea that when Malefor corrupted Cynder in the first instance, darker aspects of his power were transferred to Cynder; aging her, rapidly accellerating her growth, granting her dark abilities that were ordinarily beyond her nature. In this way it is plausible that the very spark of the Aether breath ability (in this case Dark Aether) became known to Cynder
I hope that helps!

You know, I always found it strange that we called this particular breath the same name of the stage. However with not much else to go on, I guess I can't really blame them. It is nice to know the real name of the element though and a little bit on how it works.
I also read a little bit back to to fake purple dragon conversation and how Aether and Dark Aether can cancel each other out, maybe thats how Purples became rare? Its all so interesting, but the world may never know for sure.

So the Aether element is the only thing that can combat Convexity? Would there be any actual "light" based elements like say a Sun element that could potentially also be effective? Had the idea that the element is formed from light and fire elements being fused together...which is how I have it in my dragon's concept.
