Strike Witches: Welcome to Europa by ThanyTony Strike Witches: Welcome to Europa by ThanyTony
So again expanding and exploring on the SW World Map.
It is time we take a look at the center of many of the SW stories, Europe (Europa here).

Some of the flags are oficial, while others I had to make them trying to follow the same logic Humikane used in making the flags and trying to remain as faithful to the events of the timeline as I could, here are the ones I created.

* Lusitania
* Helvetia
* Neatherlands
* Moesia
* Macedonia
* Grecia
* Baltland

It was incredibly fun to do and I love Strike Witches enough to do these things.

Anyway, Enjoy and Welcome to Europa n_n

Strike Witches is property of Humikane

I'm bit baffled by the fact that there are no traces of Central-Eastern Europe. What happened to Poland, Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia, Hungary?

Save for Poland and Hungary, they were never strong united people, and in this world, that is something you CANNOT afford to do, Neuroi will fuck you up.
Poland is part of the Karlsland Empire, Everything else is split between the Ostmark Empire (The AustroHungarian Empire in the series) and the Duchy of Venezia, Macenoia exists but it is mix of Hellenic and Slavic Macedonia, I guess it's better for them that way, maybe they can split in the future, who knows, the series only makes it untiñ 1945.

So does this imply there was never a Romagnan renaissance? Without religion to inspire pieces of art and statues? And to that extent would all of Romagnan have fallen apart after the separation of the Roman Empire? Without a pope and church to hold the west together through the Strike Witches equivalent of the medieval era.

Well considering the the "Barbarians" that came into Rome and terminated it causing it to plunge into the "Dark Age" were "Romanized" much earlier giving them plenty of time to have that classical enlightment and the fact that the Roman Empire lasted a lot more resulting in the division of Charlemange empire into the nations we know, I'd say that they skipped the "Darkest" parts of the Middle Age.

Also correct me if I am wrong but wasn't the church a HUGE contributer into the obscurity and ignorance that people had during the middle ages? Surpressing all the knowledge and keeping only to a select few that happened to be in Rome?
The same entity that inspired a renaissance was also the same entity that brought the necesity for that renaissance to begin with.

I think what the timeline implies is that there was no need of a "renaissance" because the knowledge and arts that came from that renaissance were already aviable because there was no church holding it back from the people, it was just a slower process to spread all across Europa.

Also I think it's pretty evident as to why there is no church in the SW universe...ASDKHFSKMDFHSDKINQUISITIONSDKHFSEAKDFHASDJK

excuse me, what about the Benedectine Monasteries saving the classic knowledge?
and please, forget about the so called "Dark Ages", it's only one of the myths about middle-ages made up during the XVIII and XIX century.

Saving...not sharing with everyone, that is the difference...knowledge is to be shared around, not kept to a select few that can use it to manipulate the ignorant masses.

OH...I've heard about that recently on a Danger Dolan video, it was the Top 15 worst conspiracy theories ever...that some German thinks that the "Dark Ages" never happened and is all a conspiracy by the Vatican...I was like "What? No...that is too insane...people CAN'T really believe that..."

Do you believe in this theory? Care to tell me about it? It seems interesting.

Manipulating? How?

And actually it's not a "conspiracy theory" (seriously, this is the first time I hear about it) but a serious discussion among historians which are questioning the definitions of "Middle-ages" and "Reinassance".

Think about it, what is easier? Control a well educated crowd? Or control a bunch of stupid people who think there is a demon called Titivillus that the church made up that causes bad grammar? Exactly.

If you're here to defend the good honor of christianity, please don't bother, I've seen the facts and all I see is christianity slowing down the development of humanity (Galileo, Coppernicus? Making Universities yes...but only showing "Aproved by the Church" knowledge), opressing people who think different than they do accusing their way of thinking to be satanic and therefore, needing to be destroyed (Jews, "Pagans"/People with Different Cultures, The Precolumbian Civilizations in America, Muslims and Black people) causing wars that still affect us to this day (The Crusades), Executing innocent people out of PURE ignorance and again...accusing it of being Satanic (The Inquisition, ).
I don't like religion and I NEVER will because it only causes pain and destruction, the damage it does vastly surpasses the good it can do.
So please desist with this if what you want is paint the church in a good light to me (And then having the balls to tell me these crimes are myths) look at how much we improved once we took the power from religion in the Modern Age, we wasted almost 1000 years fighting arabs and believing everything to be caused by demons, islam and jews because the church told us to do that.

If the SW universe is the result of a world where there is at least "There wa No Christianity" I like what it looks like.

In case it isn't abundantly clear, you're dealing with a nonbeliever who has seen the facts and has chosen by his own will to reject religion, so please do not bother to try to tell me the church is good.

Again...I asked, explain to me, don't tell me, explain to me, what are the basis for that?
Because when I google "The Dark Ages Never Happened" I get the Phantom Timeline Hypothesis by some crazy german who has nothing better to do.

no, that's the Phantom time hypothesis, it's a different thing.

The basis is the idea that Renaissance was not a total breaking point from the past which means that we should extend the "middle-age" period to modern age, focusing on the continuity of the christian mentality (first traditional and later reformed). This means also changing our way to consider "middle-age" itself, questioning the dated view of a "dark age".

And seriously, it's not about "painting the church in a good light"

No I am sorry I don't buy it, when I see Christianity all I see hate, opression and ignorance, so pardon me if I have a hard time believing what you say, Specially when I see things like the crusades, the inquisition, the complete erradication of preculumbian civilizations, when I see people in some villages in latin america murdering innocent animals because the think they are witches or demons, when I see them condeming homosexuality and abortion as sins no matter the circunstances, is this the entity that "saved" humanity after the fall of Rome?

Do all those things sound to you like a religion that did not sunk us into a dark age of ignorance and instead saved us from it?

Because to me it doesn't, I can believe the part where all the things we believe about the Middle Ages are misconceptions, but the part where you tell me that all that is thanks to such a hateful institution that has caused more damage to humanity than good? That part I can't buy and if you deny all the crimes I mentioned above and say they didn't happen then you better prove each and everyone of them well or you'll piss me off.

Why so many crosses on your flags?

The thing is, the crosses on the flags in real life are supposed to represent Saint George's cross, but since Christianity doesn't exists in the SW, technically speaking, those crosses SHOULDN'T be there, I get the feeling Humikane probably overlooked this fact.
I'll give him a past on it because seeing the name of the countries outside of Europa, I think he did a good amount of research to create said countries, he probably overlooked the flags a little bit, but I don't blame him, he is Japanese and probably he doesn't really understand how deep christianity is stuck on everything in the West as we would.

But, I'd like to believe that despite the lack of Christianity, Saint George still existed, except he was a she and a Witch, so his legend about the Dragon was not a fight with a Dragon but with a Neuroi (As seen in the prologue of the movie it is implied that many monsters across human history were in fact, Neurois).
So she, let's call her "Georgia" fought against this Neuroi, only that instead of using a lance, she used a Sword (It would make more sense, I know this story was romantiziced by crusaders so they gave him a Lance which is a typical Knight weapon instead of sword which would be more appropriate for him to use since he was in the time of romans after all) and just like in the legend, that sword broke but still managed to defeat the Neuroi.
Thus becoming a very renowed heroine in the Roman Empire and her "Broken Sword" became her symbol and a respected emblem.

Since we see Rome lasted a lot more than they did in the Real life, the legend of "Georgia" could have spreaded across all of Europa and making all the countries use it in their emblem.

So I think that could be a reasonable explanation as to why the countries have "Crosses" they aren't really crosses, they are "Broken Swords".

But that is just me rambling trying to make sense out of it, you can take it if you want n_n

Chances could be that Communism might exist in Strike Witches universe, but unlike the real world (our world), Communism is nothing more than a small fad in the Strike Witches universe, just an annoyance for Senator Joseph McCarthy to bitch about.  The way I see it, the Communists failed in their Orussian Revolution in the Strike Witches universe.

It would mean Orussia would steal half of Karlsland for itself from right under Karlsland's nose, and all of Ostmark too for that matter.

Horror? That's the best thing that could have happened to this world honestly, but that's just me XD.

It's not mine, it's from SW, you can do it if you want but I would recomend you watching the series first so you have a better understanding of why things are happening they way they are happening.
