SW: Map of The United States of Liberion by ThanyTony SW: Map of The United States of Liberion by ThanyTony
Oh wow...I never thought I was gonna be able to do this map,  but I found a way and I finally made it!
I am so happy with the results, I thought I was gonna have to leave a few states out, but no, I am so happy I was able to stick all of them and not leave them out, the only thing is I fused both Dakotas and Arizona and New Mexico are not part of the USL here so that's why they aren't here.

Other than thay, it took a lot of effort but I am satisfied with the results, especial thanks to bucue4  for the info provided about the state of the land in the SW universe, it was very helpful.

And with this I officially finished ALL the countries in the Strike Witches universe, I am so happy!

Enjoy!

Well, I must say this is rather interesting. I like the concept of Strike Witches, but I like the manga that I read better than the actual show (Seven words: Monty, Patton, and Rommel for the win), but I have to say it is rather nice to see something this detailed and creative with just a limited amount of source material to work with.

Good job, you earned a fave and a watch from me!

Can't wait to see more interesting pieces of work.

Yeah the Africa Doujins are pretty nice, althought I wonder how much of them is still in continuity or if they can retrofit them in somehow, I hope they can because they'r too good to waste them.

Thank you so much n_n

Either I'm blind, or you forgot both North and South Dakota.

Both states are fused in one State here, I stated it in the description :P

It's called just "Dakota"

If Christianity doesn't exist it wouldn't be called Maryland, Maryland isn't named for Queen Mary, it's named for Saint Mary, Mother of Christ.

I know, unfortunately I didn't find a name to replace it with, so I still put it.
I guess it could be named that way in honor of Mary Magdalene, who did exist in the SW universe, she just was a witch at the service of the Roman Empire and the only survivor of the destruction of the Judea province.

So she'd be a kind of important witch figure in history.

An anime that takes place in an alternater world set in WWII.

In here a group of beings called "Neuroi" have invaded the world and the only ones who can fight them are girls who have magic powers thanks to familiars called "Witches" to fight the Neuroi they use devices called "Striker Units" that allow them to flight and dogfight these beings.

It's a really cool anime with A LOT more depth to its setting that what it appears to at first glance.

I have no idea why the continent is shaped this way, I have my own personal theory but it is mostly headcanoish.

Basically during the Cretacious period, Alien Gods came to fight Giant Sized Neuroi and during their struggle, they pushed the continents in that directions, especially Liberion, it looks as if they took the southern part and jammed it north making it look as if the Azteca Territory split the USL territory in half, and in the north in Farway Land splitting the Quebec Territory of the main land.

It's a mess, but I finf it very interesting.

An interesting theory, though One theory I've been under the impression of is that maybe at some point the Neruoi's activity during ancient times may have affected the Earth's plate tectonics in the regions that would come to make up the North, central and South Liberion Contents.

Neruoi nests (underground hives) and underground networks may have had an effect on the tectonic plates to influence the way that Liberion came to be formed the way it was, but than again that's just my own theory.

I'm glad that I was able to help shed a little light here and their in regards to some of the information regarding the state, history and culture of some of the countries in the Strike Witches verse. Being a fan of the series I always did want to learn as much as I could about the world the series takes place in and to learn as much as I can of it in ways and from places that most people would otherwise overlook.

I'm glad I was able to be of help on occasion, though it's likely their will be more for me to find, record, archive and share so I'll be on the look out for any more official source information as well as extrapolating and exploring more of the witches world as I can with the information that I have the the implications the world of the strike witches series gives me to think though.

You've managed to make a very interesting and more importantly well researched set of maps of the witches world. I commend your work and creativity and the great deal of effort you put into both your research as well as the drawing up of each country, it's boarders and some of the social geography. Such a project and undertaking is no small feat to say the least.

From scaling, I think I can pinpoint where in PA I live would be found in Liberion and where the Pocono Raceway would be so Shirley can race there. ;p

You're right, though Pocono would certainly hold some serious value for her given its history. Plus, Pennsylvania's rife with historical battle sites and airports anyway, so I really do think it's a perfect place for R&D, testing in the SW verse as well as an Eastern Liberion base skirting life with the populace, given what the area was best known for having. A veritable second (third? fourth?) home for Shirley… or, at the very least, a nice vacation spot to unwind.

Wow, that must've been really tough! The shape is very different compared to other SW maps which are pretty true to their real-world locations but Liberion is crazy, haha!

I'm glad to see Nebraska is still there! That's where I live ;)
I'm also happy to see that you've kept all the state borders created by rivers.
That is a very crucial way that the United States were divided!

Hahaha yeah, that's why I chose to this one last, I had to know what I would do and it was a bit hard and I was afraid to have to cut some states, but I didn't have to and it was great to be able to fit them all.

There are some states I couldn't leave out it, it wasn't an option since some Liberion Witches come from there, most of them come from the West Coast interestengly enough, some come from the north west part of the country and only general Patton comes from California and Katharine who comes from Texas.

I learned a lot of cool things about Liberion witches making this map, I am happy for that.

I am curious, where do you get most of your detailed information?
You seem to know more about the witches than the Strike Witches Wiki lets on.

What other source material do you use in your research? I'm assuming a lot of it
has to be left to the imagination.

I guess what I do is that I read the biographies of the pilots they were based on so I can see some data, such as where are they from and things like that, you learn a lot of cool things doing this.

For example, Angela from the 504 is a Basque or Constantia from the 505 is from a family that descends from the Kantakouzenos family, a royal family within the Byzantine Empire (From which two emperors came from....Andshe'sprobablyavampiretooXDD) you can learn a lot from the witches reading about their real life counterparts ;D

That is really awesome!
I have spent some time researching certain aces and comparing them to their Strike Withces counterparts. I find it kind of funny how some Witches are almost perfect matches to their real Ace, and some are completely and ironically different. For example: George Beurling was an avid non-smoker and generally outgoing person whereas Elizabeth Beurling is a chain smoker, alchoholic, and very non-sociable, LOL  XD

Indeed, I wonder what defines if a witch follows its archtypes 100% or is a complete inversion of them.
Maybe Humikane saw an oportunity to make a fun concept or something.
