Bronislava RELOADED! by ThanyTony Bronislava RELOADED! by ThanyTony
So she has recently been revealed, I tried to make her back when she was still shaded in the Typhoon Witches group shot, you can see it here: fav.me/d98wa8f

But now that she has been revealed, I have decided to redrawn her again, it was really fun to do n_n

Also I am trying a new eye style, if you could please tell me which one you prefer, I'd apreciate it a lot! Thank you n_n

Thank you! n_n

The Unit 503rd Joing Fighter Wing or as they called "Typhoon Witches" are a group of witches who operate in Chelyabinsk and watch over the Ural mountain area, they are an interesting group becaue they're located in a heavily industrilized city, there are TONS of factories and refineries in that area and their main objective is to defend this resource gathering center from Neuroi attacks.

Bronislava here is their commander.

Thank you! It makes me very happy to hear that.
Yeah, I was in the mood to draw something and since she was recently out and there wasn't much artwork out there an it was probably going to increase I said "Why not? Contribute to the love".

Well she's the commander in her group, she has skills XD.

I tend to do that too. I like to draw characters that are not as well-known, and also newer ones with fewer existing artwork. It increases your chances of having it be seen and also shows your dedication to the series.

I'm curious what program you used to draw?
You're style has nice and crisp line quality, and looks to be a mix of hand drawing and structured linework.

Yeah, it's one of the few anime series where I can say almost the entire cast is full of very likable and relatable characters, so it makes you want people to know them, the only other series aside from SW that acomplishes that to me is Girls und Panzer.

SAI, and thank you, that is an interesting way to put it.
I studied at an art school twice in my life, as a child and as an older teenager, and the techniques I learn for coloring and shagin I remember I use them when I make my drawings.

Begin with the base for the body, then draw clothes around it, after that do the linework around everythign with a thiner pencil tool, after that I like to reduce the opacity for everything (Except the eyes).
After that I begin coloring, first applaying the base color, then several layers of shading and finally the lightning, always keeping a reference where the light is coming from and where the shade will be.
For this one I decided to use the linework as reference for the wrinkles in the clothes, but I could do that using shades only (Like I do in the breasts and the shirt neck for exmple), just blur it from one side to create the illusion of a differnt surface level.

I do that for every single piece in the drawing, usually I begin from bottom to top, meaning first skin, then clothes and finally hair and the eyes for last, then I just paint the background, I am not very good at complex backgrounds but one simple, I can do, and if I want to add something special like sparkles, shining things, magic or in this case, lightning, I take the image to photoshop and use the brushing tools I have to do so.

That's the drawing process I make, a little bit of everything n_n

Awesome! Thanks for sharing your process!
I'm still experimenting and trying to come up with a style that works for me. Right now my drawings are too complicated and robotic. I want my art to be more natural and organic looking as well as more fluid and dynamic. I'm a legitimate sufferer of OCD so I never feel satisfied unless all my lines are perfectly neat and smooth.... which annoys me because aesthetically i prefer drawings that are rough and sketchy looking.

I agree that SW is one of the series that has an impressively large cast of very interesting, relatable, and lovable characters. All of them have a surprising level or realism and depth to them. You can form stories about any of them and it will be interesting. i think the war setting really brings out the best in characters and with SW we see that on a really big scale. I know what you mean when you say you just want other people to know about them. They feel like real war heroes and you want everyone to know their amazing stories.

Your welcome.
I'd say yours looks pretty good already, but of course as for everything, there is always room for any improvement one desires, so one must always strive for the best.

You have OCD? Same here, mine doesn't affect my drawings thought, it affects me when I do the creation process for SW stuff, I always have this fear in my mind toying with so many cultures and perspectives that I am always going to offend someone, it has happened a couple of times already, people not being happy about my interpretation of how a world without Christianity is not only fine but in some aspects better, they aren't very happy about it, but that is just religion, the day I offend someone's culture with my SW interpretation, that day I am gonna tremble, but I hope I manage to come out just find, they shouldn't really be thought, the way I always interpret SW is a world about unity, unity against a threat that if humanity was more split...they probably wouldn't make it too far, so across history they had to learn to put their differences aside to work together and survive and carry on, that's my main vision when I do my SW stuff.

Indeed, even the witches I am not very fond of, I can't really say I hate them a lot to the point I don't want to see them, even if I don't like them, I do understand why they are the way they are and I don't hold it against them, that kind of diversity is good.

Haha, just don't let those people get to you. SW is a fictional world and is open to multiple interpretations. That's part of the beauty of it. Strike Witches was also created as a semi-open-source meaning fan-made content can sometimes become canon if it gets recognized by the creators. This was the case with the Witches of Sphinx manga and other volumes by FirstSpear - doujins that got turned into official releases. To me, your stuff is very well thought out and carefully planned so I take it as canon in my mind. It helps me to understand the world of SW a little better and I can use it as a quick reference guide. I'm not alone in saying that your map collection is extremely helpful so you can feel accomplished in knowing that your contribution is well received by most.

And I agree about the characters I don't like. Even if I don't like their personalities, I like that they exist because they bring diversity and realism to the story. They are an accurate representation of real people - and there's plenty of real people i don't like either, lol
So it makes perfect sense. Characters like Hanna-Justina Marseille whom I would never get along with in real life, I enjoy for the purpose of being a foil character. Her rotten behavior challenges the other characters to rise above her.

Thank you.
Sometines that worry holds me back on some projects I want to try, but I will do my best to make them come to fruition!
For example assigning native american beliefs to all Liberion Witches depending on the region they're from, for example Shirley would be Iroquois, Katharina would be Pueblo and Carla would be Polynessian Hawaiian and so on, having all be dressed in the traditional attires of those tribes, Natives in the SW universe would be many more (As the plagues would not be brought and the medicine to threat it would be better) and they would be fully integrated wittin the US population, so it'd make sense these witches would either be practitioners of the native traditions OR even have ancestry.

Indeed, I like that there are witches like that, it would be way too "marysuish" if all Witches would be nicey nice people, some of them have to be rought sometimes :P  Or make mistakes like Takami for example, but they learn from them and improve, the setting contributes to everyone giving their bests. A Fitting metaphor for the SW world as a whole if you think about it XD
