Reverse Corruption Contest

NEW DEADLINE APRIL 15th

There is a good deal of corruption work out there both official and fan-made. For some reason many of us delight in seeing the good guys be forced to serve under their sworn enemies. But I’ve always wished that there was more material depicting the alternative, the hero subduing and taking control of the villains.

The goal of this contest is to create a piece displaying the idea of reverse corruption. This means drawing something originally evil converted to the forces of good. The rules are as follows:

-The official start date is January 5th and the official end date is March 15th.
-This contest accepts both art and writing. You may use pinups, comics, sequences, short stories, captions, or anything else you want to use to depict your idea.
-You may use any character for this contest. Official works, OC’s or create someone new specifically for this contest.
-You must be able to prove to me and the judges that the character is evil. For official characters it should be as simple as linking to a wiki page. For OC’s you will need to link a previous piece that proves you use them in a villainous manner. If you create a new character you must provide a brief bio describing who they are.
-The character cannot be a hero who became a villain and you are reverting them back to hero
-The change must be involuntary
-There must be a visual element to the change. They can’t just act differently or have glowing eyes. They need to have a new look that fits their new status.
-The villain must be changed by a hero or heroic group. They can’t just pick up a magic rock and become a good guy. Someone must be responsible for the change.
-TG is not necessary but encouraged
-Mind control is not required if you can think of another way to make them serve good.
-Writing Entries have a max word limit of 2000

Similarly to last time scoring will be out of a total 30 points for each judge with the potential for bonus points. The categories are similar as well.

-Art/Writing: This measures your piece based on how it looks/reads. For art this doesn’t just judge how skilled of an artist you are. Just because you can draw very realistic doesn’t mean you will get a 10. Composition and style play a big part in this as well. For writing: grammar and spelling play a factor but aren’t the whole grade. Writing out a matter of fact order of events is not engaging and I encourage something more dynamic.

-Originality: This can be two things. If a piece has a truly original idea than it will get a high score. However interesting takes on common ideas also net high scores.

-Theme: This is the vaguest of the categories as it’s the most open to a judge’s opinion. How well does your piece embody the theme of the contest? How well have you conveyed evil being forced to become good? Keep these questions in mind as you work on your entry.

There is another bonus entry this time around. The amount of bonus points scales to the amount of entrants so I can’t give an exact amount. I can say that it will be enough to let you jump 1-4 places if you do it. There are also two other things you can do to receive 2 bonus points each.

-The bonus entry should be a traditional corruption piece. So a good aligned character becoming evil. It needs to be from the same series as the character you used for your main entry. If you use an OC it needs to be another one of your OC’s. If you design a new character you need to design another for the bonus. Like last time this can be a sketch level piece. For writing it needs to be a coherent story about 500-1000 words.

-You can get 2 points by posting a journal to spread awareness about the contest. It needs to have the name, theme, prize information and deadline. You may include any other info you wish to add. Either format it so it will show up in my notifications or link it directly to me in a note.

-You can get 2 more points by providing praise and/or constructive criticism on at least two other pieces. (1 point for each comment.) It needs to be more than just “Cool!” or “Could be better” give actual feedback like “I love the warp effect on your background, really gives it an otherworldly feel” or “I think the legs could be a bit longer to balance out the character” Don’t be mean.

Our celebrity judges this time around consist of :iconsortimid: - :iconmelkorios: - :iconkimrinzley: - :iconleoryff: and :iconcharoset: as well as some loser: :iconflashkill455:

PLEASE DO NOT ASK JUDGES FOR OPINIONS ON YOUR WORK. JUDGES AREN'T ALLOWED TO DISCUSS THE ENTRIES UNTIL AFTER THE CONTEST ENDS. You may however ask if your idea breaks any rules and if it satisfies certain conditions. Just don't go around asking things that will give you info n what your score will look like.

Prizes will be split like this:

1st: $150
2nd: $75 + 1 free pinup from :iconkimrinzley: and
3rd: $50 +  1 free color page from :iconrezuban:
4th: $30 + 1 free pinup from :iconkimrinzley:
$15 will also be given to two random entrants.

Once you have completed the piece you must join the group :icontf-tg-contests: and submit both your main entry and bonus if you have one to the folder ‘Reverse Corruption’. Note that you can submit the main entry when it's finished and the bonus later on.

Here is how you should format your submission description:

Title:
Changed Character:
Original Series (if any):
Method of transformation:
Description:
Link to bonus (if any):
Links to other required resources (wiki pages, OC references, etc):

Bonuses should include a similar description

See you in March!

FAQ:
-What is TF:
TF stands for transformation and can involve anything from some changing genders to someone turning into a hypnotized, reptillian, robot-demon whose lower half has been turned to stone.
-What is TG: Generally TG stands for Transgender. In this particular case it refers to a TF involving gender change. It can also sometimes include crossdressing, or hermaphrodites.
-What is Corruption: Corruption is a type of TF where a generally good aligned character is transformed into an evil version of themselves. It can involve assimilation into a hive mind type group, mind control, being reborn as a zombie and other involuntary methods.
-What is Reverse Corruption: This is a rare version of Corruption where an evil character is transformed into a good one. Other than that distinction it is essentially the same.
-May I submit more than one entry: You may but there is a two entry limit. Only the highest scoring entry will count.
-Can I collaborate with someone: You may but if you win anything then I will need all collaborators to agree on a prize split.
-Is mind control necessary: No
-Can I submit an art entry and a writing bonus (or vice versa): Yes
-Will not including TG hurt my score: No
-Does it have to be involuntary: Yes it does, there are ways to skate around this rule but don't get upset if it results in a lower 'Theme' score.
