The Transmogrification Drive is an evolution of the G1 Transformation Cog, which played a prominent role in some Metroplex-related episodes of the original G1 cartoon.
Also known as T-Drive, the Transmogrification Drive is one of the many Drives available inside Metroplex's huge body: for Metroplex, depending on simply one of those drives couldn't possibly be enough for such a vast structure.

Does Axer have a sense of humor? Apparently, yes, as he replaced the T-Drive with a Rubik's Cube (possibly a trophy from one of his previous hunts).

It's not entirely clear that Axer replaced the drive with a cube; it's interpretable as the drive itself looking like a cube and Axer then stealing it. Maybe a panel homaging the Indiana Jones 'swap the statue for the bag of sand' scene?

On another note, I really like the designs for the internal background drones. They have that slightly awkward G1 blocky disproportionalism which screams "this is capable of turning into something else". It makes them look amazingly well-suited for the G1-era franchise aesthetic.

Hmm, the Drive is shown in panel 1, as a "blueprint" on the screen...

Yes. However, it's not clear that the screen blueprint is a Drive (or, if so, the specific Drive under discussion rather than a representative diagram), rather than some random image unrelated to whatever is being discussed. I realize it looks like the G1 transformation cog from the cartoon, which is a hint, but not every reader may recognize it.

In any case, it doesn't derail the storyline, as Axer's theft of the Drive is still clear.

It was really fun to work on this page, even if the
details where really hard to follow, I just love how it came out!
I love to work with this line art style

Actually I added the symbol: that's my job, when all the coloring is done.
I must admit that in this comic I didn't do the best of the jobs with symbols.

ooh okay. I understand :)

it's okay, I still like it and it's an okay job. I've seen much worse out there. XD

Why would you want to swap your Rubiks Cube for some T Drive? ;)

Maybe he wasn't able to solve it? :D
