Baby Sushi Costume by Tevokkia Baby Sushi Costume by Tevokkia
This is the costume I made for my 7 month-old daughter for Halloween this year.

Most of it is made with inexpensive cotton fabric, although the plush wasabi was made with some soft fleece material. The nori was sponge-painted, and the shrimp pattern painted with acrylic craft paints. It took me 4 or 5 hours to finish from the creation of the pattern to trying it onto Lydia, as I don't have a sewing machine and did all the stitching by hand.

You know, I forgot this picture was up on your DA! I am always telling people about this costume you made. Everyone is always charmed by the idea. I'm still tickled by it. ^.^

Now I have a photo to show people!

LoL Christie ... it's a little funny, this costume consistently gets random new people liking it. Especially as Halloween approaches and they're searching for costume ideas.

You win the "Best Parent EVAR" award.

When she's a teenager, she can be all "You went as FAIRY for your first Halloween? That's nice, I went as SUSHI!" xD

Too cute.

Thanks. ^.^ Lydia loves playing with the silly thing, too. She keeps trying to get into her closet to dig it out. I'm going to have to make her a stuffed sushi pillow just to keep her from tearing the closet apart. >.<

Thank you! Yes, I did have to do it by hand ... I can't afford a sewing machine. XD (I probably wouldn't know how to use it anyway). It was a lot of fun, though.

I believe you can get them super cheap at craigslist or ebay or something, not many people sew anymore, or rather, not many people compared to how many used to...

Cute costume! Super original too, imho.

Thanks bunches!

I've been thinking of getting one, but I only really sew a few times a year.

They're really useful to have though, I think.

If you can find a super cheap one, then maybe you'd sew more? :D

Probably. XD I've been keeping my eye out in a lazy sort of way. I've got too many other hobbies I'm also doing.
