This is a Phoenix convention sketch from San Diego Comic Convention last weekend. Sketch is on 11 x 17 Comic Book Paper using Light Blue and HB Pencil, Pitt and Copic Multiliners Pens, Copic Warm Grey Markers, and White Prismacolor Pencil.

Oh yeah, this is a companion piece to an Emma Frost drawing in the gallery, Emma Frost C2E2 2010, for the same owner.

I just found ( buried at GoodWill) the 1st issue of Chix. Very silly but I just love your style :) That aside, this is lovely!

As awesome as your finished work is, I still enjoy the sketches, especially when they're rougher.

It has so much movement in it.

I love seeing the rougher work of any artists!

Agreed. It shows more of the thought behind the piece. Sometimes, you can say more with a few gestural lines than you can with an entire finished page.

It's a great way to study the thinking behind the artist.

Outstanding mr Dodson! I feel that con sketches really show the soul of the artist, cause there´s no time to goof around with digital touch ups or anything, so you have to show your guts there. Congratulations, sir
Cheers!

I love do con sketches - I only do a couple of shows a years - so I have to remember how to do them and by the end, I'm cruising! And then, it's 3-6 months til the next con - c'est la vie!

Totally. But I can tell how much you enjoy doing these, cause your sketches are so full with life and energy. Besides, you carry those papers you like so much to work with, so I think these are kind of a break from the "serious" job.
Either way, congratulations mr Dodson
All the best!

Yeah, I only do con sketches because they are fun to do for myself and the fans!
