The Future Is Wild: Prairie Monster

5 Million years into the future, and the earth is experiencing another ice age. With ice sheets extending down covering northern North America, what was once the great plains is now a large cold desert. However, further south it can be seen that hotter regions cooled down and became part of the  receding plains. Regions such as Arizona and New Mexico are now covered in grassy plains in what used to be rocky deserts. This sudden change in climate brought forth larger grazing animals to these areas with predators evolving with them. One of these new predators is known as the Prairie monster, a descendent of the Gila monster that inhabited these regions 5 millions ago. With larger herbivores inhabiting these lands Gila monsters became larger in size, and even becoming bipedal. By moving in a bipedal stance it allows Prairie monsters to see their prey farther away, as well as stay focused on them in a chase. Just like its ancestor it uses venom incapacitate its prey, latching on to its victim and beginning to "chew" its venom into the prey. This venom is deadly as it causes paralysis and can cause rising levels of blood pressure. When the prey does fall to paralysis the Prairie monster will begin to eat its victim alive.
