So this was yet another Star Wars character that I was unfamiliar with until this assignment came along. I was asked to imbue the admiral with the look of a "confident and brilliant military man. Striking features and red eyes. The pose and body language should reflect that he is emotionally controlled."

Illustrated for the Star Wars miniatures: Imperial Entanglements packaging art.

I used the same mixed media approach, washes of acrylic in the background and oil built up on top for detail and glazed in for color modulation.

*** I have archival PRINTS in stock of many of my works. Please feel free to send a note if there is a particular one that interests you.

That was in my opinion one of the best star wars book series that came to the extended universe, nice painting!

Too bad Disney Inc. decided to ignore the Extended Universe and make up their own shit.

Grand Admiral Thrawn put too much trust in a race loyal only because of lies. You don't use a bodyguard who doesn't know he wants to kill you yet.

It would have worked if it weren't for that and the madness of the clone Jorus C'baoth.

Not "artistically done" enough.

Não conheço com detalhes a história de Thrawn, porem sua espécie é simplesmente incrivel.

He respects art, to grasp the gestalt of opposing force psychology? Offer a painting of the Enterprise-E, of the White Star, of the Normandy, of the Battle of Isandlwana, of the Reapers. Offer tea. Commander Shepard would show respect by offering tea. Mi'thrawn'arudo, born of the Chiss people. The Imperial equivalent of Sun Tzu. The most fanatical believer in the New Republic, if they have a SHRED of professional respect ...

::snaps to::
::salutes::
::martial shout in Chiss language::
Does he have a place of burial? We of the new era shall give him a place of professional honor and an eternal flame for him, though haply his body be unrecoverable. Admiral Ackbar ordered the eighteen-gun salute from his flag vessel, Home One. I know. I was there.

With equal firepower and resources, he would not leave a shred of Francis Drake, or Lord Nelson, or Halsey, or Nimitz.

How would Thrawn have contended, with equal firepower and resources, in an excercise opposite Stephen Ainsley Hackett, my comrade of the Mass Effect universe? How would Thrawn have contended, with equal firepower and resources, in an excercise opposite the respected Picard? In either case, both would have minds in tatters, and learn strategems they had never thought possible. And if by the end they did not feel mutual respect, I would be speechless with astonishment, and close to tears.
