Tyrannosaurus rex by Teratophoneus Tyrannosaurus rex by Teratophoneus
After now more than 2 months, I can proudly announce that my tyrannosauroid project is FINISHED Wit t rex I have made the last Tyrannosaur in my project. Now, only a complete chart is missing with all oftem which I will do right now. T rex is the biggest and baddest of all tyrannosaurs and as the best comes last I saved drawing t rex as my last tyrannosaur in the project. Te head is based on a picture of my tyrannosaurus skull, the appearence and the proprotions are based on various t rex specimens, including sue, stan and others.

Great model, and the dimensions are accurate! Of course, it may look kind of small because the reference human is 2 m high, otherwise this animal is huge!

Excellent picture. Human seems a bit large though. 2 meters is really very tall for a human being. What an insanely large beast these things were. It reminds me as the mechanical replica they have at the Saint Louis Science Center, only better detailed.

I've been looking for a depiction of T-rex like this one for a long time, I can just see the similarities between actual tyrannosaurus skeletons and this drawing.

I'm sure this guy is slightly bigger than "Sue".

But it is true that the Tyrannosaurus Rex is the biggest of the Tyrannosaurs, I like you're paleontology.

Maybe nearly the size of Stan, these measurements are unfeasible, Sue would be bigger, bulkier, taller, and longer than this size. This size may represent a 10-10.5 meter subadult. But it's too small to represent a fully mature 12-13+ meter individual.

Do you think you can add Qianzhousaurus and Nanuqsaurus to this series?

Nice, my favorite dinosaur. Personally, I do usually place T-rex as being bigger than that. 12-13 meters long, 5-6 meters tall, and 7-8 tons on the average. But, I give a max size of 14-15 meters long, 6-7 meters tall, and 9-11 tons.  But that's just me. Good drawing overall.

Then you make it too big. The largest T. rex is Sue, wich is 12.3 meters long, 4 meters tall at the hip, and (i think) around 6.5-7.5 or 7-8 tonnes in weight.

Actually Sue is only around ~3.5 meters tall at the hips. You can measure a skeletal reconstruction of Sue from the bottom of the foot to the highest point on it's hips and find out. That widespread ~4-meter figure likely includes the elevated platform the mounted skeleton is on.

I know this is an old comment, but draw a 12.3 m long, 3.5 m tall T. rex in a squared notebook with 1 cm equaling to 1 m, and you will get a ridiculously short (in height) T. rex that you never seen before. I have done that.

Well, the thing is that ~12.3 meters refers to Sue's length along the spinal column plus skull length (axial length), not the length from snout-tail tip in life. That means, that if you somehow ripped out Sue's whole spine plus the head still attached, and stretched it out straight, it would be ~12.3 meters long.

And, well, Sue is kinda short compared to it's length.

Uh, probably not, me too I think T. rex is bigger than the 12.3 meters of Sue, but it was probably a maximum length of 14.8 meters to 15.3 meters long (based on UCMP 137538, just a toe bone though), making it the second, or the largest Theropod of all time (if you think like me that the Spinosaurus had a shorter tail than the estimates). But 16.8 meters...

The porporcionality is 9,2 and the skull of UCMP118742 is 1,83 meters. So the full size was 16,836 meters long, 7 meters tall and it has 13 tons.

I read somewhere that they made a reduction, of its size, but at it was an immature individual as large as Sue, let's hope it wasn't a big headed T. rex! :)

The real size is 13 meters but it was a 15 years old teenager and t-rex stop to grow at 22 years old, he certanly could be 16+ meters long. There exist a 11 meters rex with 10 years old, wen he grow up he could be 16,5 meters long.

Oh my GODS! Such a beautiful rendition! I've gotta say, that both you and Hodari-Nundu are my favorite paleo-artists. It's thanks to you guys that I now have my new goal- to draw every species of dinosaur. I'm starting with the Tyrannosaurid family. First of all because they are bad-ass and second of all because T-rex is my girlfriend's favorite dinosaur. Keep up the amazing work!

It looks amazing! Just one thing though...Shouldn't it be taller? T.rex could reach six meters in height and this one looks barely 4 meters tall.
