Description

Cetiosaurus is one of the first described dinosaurs and the first ever described sauropod.  Hailing from the middle jurassic of great britain, Cetiosaurus is of medium size for a sauropod. When it was described it was first thought to be a large aquatic creature,hence the name which means whale lizard.

This is nice. I remember in one of the documentaries i have seen, they wrongly mentioned the size of Cetiosaurus being equivalent to 10 African elephants, as much as 40 tonnes and 19.8 m long. While the weight of this sauropod is half of it and also 10 African elephants weigh more than 40 tonnes.
