Australovenator is a genus of megaraptoran from Australia. It is to my knowledge the largest theropod dinosaur described thus far from Australia.

It is not the largest theropod from australia, it is just the most complete of the large theropods in the geological rock layers of australia.

are any of these remains described yet?

Liopurodon4x's avatar

Not named but described

None yet - Australovenator is so far the best described & largest known. Can't really define a species off a single tooth/element (but they love to do that in Australian Palaeo)

Just because they are not named does not mean they are not bigger than australovenator. we have specimens and footprints of australian theropods larger than australovenator. Australovenator is just the most complete and thats it

I understand that there is likely something bigger that Australovenator but until it's fully described then it remains the currently largest described theropod.

I know but the description does not specify that it is the largest DESCRIBED theropod, it just says the largest theropod which is what I had a problem with

Teratophoneus's avatar
