Jamie Lannister ArmorE by teranmx Jamie Lannister ArmorE by teranmx
The one thing about making props and armor is being able to test it or try it on. So much fun either mid day or 2 in the morning.

Nicely done man. Though it was sort of a disappointment when I was reading the book I imagined his armor to be shinny, but nope the director decided that wouldn't be shinny.

Thanks. The newer pics with the updated detail and paint job is better then the older one. I am redoing the scales as well. PVC sheeting.. used for making signs. I made most of the armor out of it. The shoulders were vacuum formed and then other parts added to it with rivets and bondo to get that shape. I actually have an updated version I am tweaking, because I finally figured out how to get that other curve in the shoulder. I will post it when finished.

Dude, without glasses you will be perfect Stanis Baratheon or or Tywin Lannister. BTW, from what you made your armor? Or you bought it somewhere?

Thanks. I have thought about Tywin Lannister armor. I made the armor for a friend. I just modeled in it before I sent it to him. I wouldn't mind making a version for myself. I made it with pvc plastic. I sometimes by sintra which is a particular type of pvc and is more durable, but at times more expensive. You can make it out of regular pvc plastic as well. I fused the pieces together with pvc glue you can buy in the plumbing or electrical departments at lowes, home depot, ace or some other type of hardware store.

Thanks for your advice, man! I needed to know, from what should I make Ordinator's armor from Morrowind. And I feel, that the hardest part of it will be the helmet...

used cardboard and paper mached the helmet. It is probably the cheapest you can go, you just have to play with the paint job. Paint reacts differently on paper macho then say plastic. Also it depends on cultural reference. When referencing certain countries such as the middle east or Japan some armors had layers of fabric, so then either texturilizing the armor like fabric or putting a layer of fabric on it can help give it that authenticity. Then again that just painted the patterns on and his paint job with the cardboard seemed to make it softer.
If you want to keep it looking metallic then just play with different paints. I mostly use spray paints and have only recently started dabbling with airbrush. I know some others do other techniques to age material. One good way is after you've used a metallic paint and let it dry then use a metal brillo pad or steel wool and lightly rub it. This will help create some scratching like wear and tear would do. Then when you go back to add in whatever dirt or color of rust you are going to paint the scratched grooves will soak it in.
Also the pvc I use takes paint very well and can be used to make anything. You just have do a sanding of the top layer first to remove the skin on it. You can tell when it's gone. It doesn't take much. Then use a primer on it, sanding in between 1 to 2 coats of the primer and then the paint. Automobile primer is best when doing metal look or shiny metal at least. It has something in it that gives the flecked look or smooth shine.
Helmet, even I am having problems with helmets, but there are bunches of different ways. Some do molds, some do the cardboard then fiberglass thing, then some do foam and carve,... lots of ways. Go to the www.therpf.com Alot of people put how to type information on there. One helmet I made I did it with the pvc and Bondo. It came out ok. Still too heavy on top. I am working on one with a mold right now for a friend and it is too costly, but he wanted it and he is paying for the supplies. Hope some of this helps.

Actually they could be a tad bigger, but it's according to the wearer. If anything the lip on the top is not wide or thick enough and does not swoop back. Remember a person HAs to be able to move their arms and swing a sword. I am also wearing a thick coat and they were made for another guy not for me. See references. I found a number of pics to use as reference. Here is one. [link]
Here is the gentleman I made them form.

But whatever. I think they turned out good.
