Sauerbraten Emblem, Caustics

526 ViewsThis is the Sauerbraten Emblem, a symbol used to represent the fantastic open-source game engine I contribute to. I made it in 3D max, applied some caustics, and starting playing around with lights. After a little while I decided to make it a golden sort of color, as if this was some kind of trphy, even though the Sauer emblem is usually orange in color.

urk. The transparency looks like crap. oh well.
I'm quite fond of how the light plays out inside of the shape, it makes it look far more complex than it actually is. I wish I could have rigged the lights to make even better refractions, but it started to look just wrong.

maybe if the cube was rounded itd look better. iuno. its not bad though.
