Death of Saruman by Tensen01 Death of Saruman by Tensen01
'Saruman laughed 'You do what Sharkey says, always, don't you, Worm? Well, now he says: follow!' He kicked Wormtongue in the face as he grovelled, and turned and made off. But at that something snapped: suddenly Wormtongue rose up, drawing a hidden knife, and then with a snarl like a dog he sprang on Saruman's back, jerked his head back, cut his throat, and with a yell ran off down the lane. Before Frodo could recover or speak a word, three hobbit-bows twanged and Wormtongue fell dead.' -J.R.R. Tolkien 'The Return of the King.'

This is my second Tolkien-related picture. I wanted to do a scene that I had never seen illustrated... This one jumped into my head... What do you think?

yesterday, i read this part ... and i imagined what it would be to draw it^^ you did it very well :D But what i would love to draw one day is the scene following his murder, where sarum is lying dead and his soul/spirit escape from his body

I also read that Saruman had left and gone to the south to teach his metallurgy to the people, in a kind of repentance. I liked that ending better then the first.

I read that in the Lord of the Rings guide, it told both stories as a way to keep the door open for speculation ya know?

Guide to the book or the movie? Because in the book there's no room for speculation. In the non-Extended cut of the movie I can maybe understand since you don't see his death.

Well, the book has pictures from the Movie, but they are used mostly to give a visual for the person ya know?

Anywho, it's a guide to the world of Middle-Earth, so I guess you could say it's from the books.

It was a short part on Saruman because there isn't much known about him, Gandalf or even there order. It gives to examples of his 'end' because no one knows for sure what happened to him, one guess is that Wormtongue killed him, and that's the one that is generally excepted in the world (Middle-Earth) sense they haven't seen him for so long. The other is that he is trapped in his tower by the Ents as they replant the area, always guarding him. The third is that he left to the south to unknown lands to teach his metallurgy and to try and repent for his crime, sense he would have been freed from the rings power after it's destruction.

Dose that answer your question? I could give you the book title if you wish yes?

Ah cool. That does sound like it's talking about the movies though. In the books it's clearly shown and stated that he's killed by Wormtongue during the Scouring of the Shire, never to return to Middle Earth. But I can understand giving options in relation to the movie since different versions of the movie either leave out, or add in the info on Saruman.

Your probably right, it did sound like it was more of the movie then anything else. But, to tell you the truth, I like the options one better, because we all know that Saruman was just...confused at the time.

Freaking Grima! That's what you get for dealing with hobbit eaters.

Yeah, that's pretty cool. Be even cooler with a forest behind it.

That is incredibly cool. The pose-- the lovely hands you've drawn-- the folds in the clothing-- it's all just wonderful!
