In 1945, the Israeli Defense Forces, along with United States and its allies have defeated the Empire of Japan. However, the IDF decided to occupy the Korean peninsula, in a attempt to prevent the USSR from entering Korea. During the occupation, Korean Jews returned to the peninsula and settled a life, in order to make a new concept of dividing the peninsula: Zionist and Non-Zionist.

However that didn't work, as it didn't make sense. Israel wants to make sure Korea is safe, but Korea doesn't want its independence according to their Jews.

In 1955, a referendum was issued in the occupied territory: "Should Israel turn Korea into a province, a "more autonomous region" or cancel the Israeli control?)

12% said "turn Korea into a province", 5% said "Cancel Israeli control", and last but not least: 88% want a autonomous region.

The Korean SAR was declared in 1955, and is a Administrative Region separated from the rest of Israel. It has a separate customs territory.
