Kabuki Danjurou

One of my favorite video game series is one that has never even been released outside of Japan; Tengai Makyou. However, a fighting game featuring the characters from this RPG series DID make a brief appearance in the U.S. under the name "Kabuki Klash" for the Neo Geo.

This series has always held my attention with its bright, vibrant, characters; a quality that solidified fellow RPG series Lunar in my heart of hearts as well. Anyway, my favorite character of the bunch is the one displayed here; Kabuki Danjurou, from Tengai Makyou 2: Manji-Maru. He's pompous, lecherous, brash, and just plain goofy!

This pic was done in 2002 and was actually just supposed to be a sketch/guide of the character to use for an actual drawing (as artbooks for this series are stupid expensive/hard to find). However, the sketch came out so good, it just became the actual drawing! Danjurou's vibrant color scheme really lent itself well to my Photoshop skillz here. A favorite pic of mine and most people I know who have seen my work.
